I've never seen a 4-light stop signal like this in my life. It is bizarre and confusing. An accident occurred right in front of me on Wednesday, July 7. It was because the driver that traveling South on Garfield and turning left onto Eastbound 15 Mile got confused by the light and drove directly into the path of a vehicle that was traveling North on Garfield. It was a miracle that nobody was seriously injured. It is the light. Get rid of it and replace it with a standard light. If this doesn't happen, I will bet there is a really bad accident there in the near future.
Cars that are turning left are also being caught in the intersection when the light turns left since they changed the left turn signal from after the main signal to being first before the main signal. So if a car is trying to turn left on the blinking yellow and cannot do it before the light goes red, they have to back up! I guess people will eventually get used to it, but the new left turn lights are really messing people up right now!
These new signals have now been approved as standard guidelines and installed throughout the entire country, so we believe they are here to stay.

That website is missing information. Many lights are different in the metro area. Interval 1 goes to interval 4 at many intersections. Resulting people to be stuck in the middle of the intersection since they are waiting for interval 2 after interval 1. How are people suppose to learn the new lights when the new lights are completely different than on the website?
This intersection light has been adjusted from a blinking yellow for left turns to a solid red or green. The reason I'm guessing is accidents from drivers with blinking yellows turning left into oncoming traffic, thinking they have right of way. I grew up in the country and a blinking yellow has ALWAYS meant CAUTION and oncoming traffic does not have a red! Only a GREEN light means you may turn without regard to oncoming traffic. Its not brain surgery (or maybe it is); nonetheless, we are stuck now with a SHORT green light for left turns since there is no longer a blinking yellow light, so make your driving adjustments accordingly!
This is a duplicate post for this intersection. There is a more recent thread regarding this light signal problem. This post has not been commented on in over six months.
