The Exit 9 Study contracted by CDTC can be found at http://www.cliftonpark.org/townhall/pdf/FullExit9Study.pdf. The issue of the Woodin Rd & Sitterly Rd capacity problems were recognized in the report. The problems at this location are exacerbated by the capacity issues at US 9 and NY 146 during certain times of the day. Sitterly Road as well as Kinns Road have become bypasses for NY 146.

The attachment with a map of the area shows an additional complication. The border between the Towns of Clifton Park & Halfmoon runs through the area in question such that the intersection of Woodin & Sitterly is the responsibility of the Town of Halfmoon and the intersection of The Crossing & Sitterly lies with Clifton Park. It is clear that the operation of these signals need to be coordinated.

Widening Sitterly Rd at the intersection to provide for left turns onto Woodin Rd is an expensive proposition given the need for additional right-of-way and potential utility and traffic signal relocation.

Let me assure you that I will raise your concerns at the Clifton Park Highway Safety Committee meeting on February 17th. At a minimum we can examine the coordination of these signals.

Can there be a left turn/green on Sitterly/Woodin Roads for 1 minute before both sides have the green? Sometimes it takes several light changes just to go straight on Sitterly, waiting for a car to make a left turn.

Agreed; the stop line for the light on the eastern side of Sitterly Road could be placed farther back and the yellow light adjusted. Too many people block the intersection once the lights have changed.

The lightat the crossing only allows about 2-3 cars thru at a time heading towards Clifton Park Mall. Its ridiculous!! The people leaving the crossings are getting more time and they don't have nearly the back up we do!

As Jen stated, the traffic light at the Crossings does not allow enough vehicles through and that is the main reason for the back up on Sitterly. I timed it recently and it is green for only 7-8 seconds! Wait until the holiday traffic gets in full gear.

This intersection is a major problem that has been ignored for years, and now that the new Medical Center is being built just across the bridge it's only going to get worse. There are mud tracks carved into the embankment from cars trying to squeeze by. It's not unusual for cars to have to wait multiple light cycles, and I recently found Westbound traffic to be backed-up all the way onto Route 9 because of this foul intersection. Yes, you read that right a solid line of cars 8/10ths of a mile long and out on to Rt 9 just waiting to get through this light.

A right turning lane from woodin or turning lane to sitterly is a horrible idea given the fact that there are families with children at that end because I wait for school buses and letting people speed around stopped cars because they are running late for work or have to rush to Starbucks is ludicrous. The speeders and tailgaters on that end are dangerous ENOUGH. The oncology center did not cause an increase in traffic and the problem is not woodin but the light on sitterly at the corner of oncology center and storage place since it changes red as soon as you get off woodin.. Start with that traffic light first. Maybe try changing the timer on it somehow so it is in sync with the other one to keep cars moving. There are several other ways to take off of exit 8A so maybe some impatient drivers could find an alternate route, I don't suggest to cause dangers to the homes right there but instead, leave for work early, maybe skip that coffee, or suck it up and change your work schedule since I only deal with traffic on these roads to and from work or holidays but that's life traffic is everywhere during those hours so do we want to cater to impatient speeders and redesign every neighborhood putting people in danger!!!!!! I have had some speeders behind me that the light actually saved me by making them stop and chill out a min! I don't want you whipping around me.
