Seems like the majority of bikers are not obeying the traffic laws through out the city. You see many bikers not sop at red lights, stop signs, ride on the sidewalk when there is a line of traffic only to pass the vehicles and get back in the street. They even pass on right or the left when you re trying to turn instead of staying behind the vehicle. You wil see some bikers ride on the right of he street and some on the left of the street. I think we need more enforcment for those who break the law. At any corner a police officer could give lots of tickets to bikers.

I agree with you! Bicyclists are legal vehicles and as such, have all the same responsibilities (and rights) as other vehicles.
Josh, it's fine to complain about cyclists, but I'd feel a lot better about your complaints if you asserted that you:
* Have never parked or stopped in a bike lane
* Have never swerved into the bike lane around another car
* Have never made a right turn in front of a biker ("right hook")
* Always use your turn signal well in advance of turning to indicate your intentions to bikers
* Use the right turn lane and yield to bikers where indicated
* Don't split lanes with bikes
* Don't honk or yell at bikers simply for being ahead of you in the lane. Bicycles are legal vehicles.
I see one or more of these violations every single time I'm walking, biking, or driving in Center City. In my opinion, these things are more of a threat to public health and safety than bikes carefully advancing through red lights. That being said, bikers need to give respect to get respect and if more enforcement will help that, I'm all for it.

Jason,
The law says that bikers must follow the traffic laws and that does not mean carefully advancing through red lights. It means stay stopped until the red light changes to green. The other thing the bikers do alot is passing illegally on the right or the left. There will be a long line of cars waiting at a red light and instead of the biker waiting in a single file line they either pass illegally on the right or go up the middle to avoid waiting.I am now seeing bikers ride the wrong way down streets and the wrong way in a bike lane. I think the problem is that the majority of bikers don't know the law becuase they were never given a test or might not have a drivers license. i am all for giving respect and getting respect but I think more education needs to be given to bikers and drivers. I do believe the problems stem from lack of education and knowing the laws of the road. The other issue I have that when a biker hit my car passing illegally on the right and the fled the scene my car insurance had to pay for the damages since I could not get information on the biker i.e. tag number etc. and most bikers don't have insurance unless the have a vehicle or a home. I believe that the bikers who break the law are younger and are never to the city and are not avid riders. I do believe bikers and vehicles need to be ticketed more however are aware that the police can not be everywhere and have other high crime issues to deal with. I think more education is needed instead of mass ticketing.
