Description

During the course of the summer of 2012, I watched the progress day-by-day as the TTC installed new track between Coxwell and Greebnwood along Queen St. E, including new switches for the Connaught yards. I was impressed with the thorough preparations and careful laying of new track, followed up by reconstruction and paving of the automobile roadbed. However, the job has apparently been finished off with less stellar work. The stretch of Queen street between the TTC yard and Greenwood was not reconstructed as was the 1/4 mile or so in the other direction, towards Coxwell. Instead, a thin (two- to three-inches I think) layer of asphalt was rolled onto the already-patch road surface. I'd like to know if the TTC ran out of money, time or both and if they intend to leave things this way. I have a bad feeling that as little as a single winter will reduce this slap-dash work to cracks and potholes.
