Today, Thursday, 8/27 at 2:20 PM sprinklers were watering the grass along Mare Island Way near the ferry building. Water at that time of day is wasteful because most of the water evaporates in the sun's heat. Watering should be done early in the morning, after 3 AM, when the ground is cool and the water can seep into the soil before evaporating. Less water overall will be needed. The watering needs should be recalculated and the sprinkler timers reset.
