People seem to be using the painted bicycle/pedestrian lanes as their personal parking spots instead of their driveways. I understand if they're having visitors over, but I walk/run in this area and have to go around these same cars belonging to home owners and into the street, which is very busy at some hours of the day. This is dangerous to anyone trying to use those lanes for what they're actually meant for. If the person has a driveway, they need to use it. This is also an issue down Shakertown Drive and other subdivisions located along the Country. Although the lanes aren't painted along all of these streets, it can be very difficult to navigate in a vehicle or on foot. It is also dangerous when small children cannot be seen behind the parked cars as theyre trying to walk across the street. It is dangerous and prevents children AND adults from being able to safely walk about the neighborhood.

I use that street often to get my morning or afternoon walk in but sometime I have to dodge cars that are parken on the street in front of ther house .Which make it dangerous for everyone.

the same situation exists in the Somerset/Kensal Green Subdivisions. If people have driveways their cars should be parked in their respective driveways. I walk everyday with my dog and I'm always dodging cars. Wish Metro would do something about this. Can't this cars be ticketed.

Parking in a bike lane is illegal in Metro. Call the non-emergency number and report illegal parking. 862-8600

those lanes are not designated as Bike lands, in order for them to be there has to be a bike symbol in them and I have not seen such. So you would be wasting your time calling Metro they won't ticket those cars.

It doesn't require a "bike symbol" to be designated as a bike lane.

according to the resource officer who was at our Home Owners Association, did state they are not bicycle lanes because they are not designated as such. The resource officer was actually a police officer from the Hermitage precinct.

The white edge line markings on Country Way were installed under a traffic calming program. Although the remaining width between the edge lines and the curb are not consistent, most locations measured were 7’ wide and therefore parking can be permitted in those areas. If the homeowners along the roadway would like to restrict parking, Metro Public Works can furnish them a no parking petition form. You can contact customer service at (615) 862-8750. This street has potential to have bike lanes installed along its entire limits. In order to become a designated bike lane proper signage, striping (including bike lane symbols) and bike friendly grates must be installed. Having bikeways installed can have a traffic calming effect which could lead to slower traffic. People can still walk in bike lanes as long as there is not an adjacent sidewalk and walkers/runners travel in the opposing direction to vehicles and cyclist. This is to allow the walkers to see any vehicles as a safety measure in case they have to make a quick decision to avoid an oncoming vehicle that may encroach into bike lane.
