This issue needs to be reopened, since I have not received a response to the claim that was submitted in September 2023 (see below).

Claim was submitted more than a month ago without any acknowledgement of receipt, let alone resolution. Problem was first reported nearly a year ago, and city has still not taken any action--just provides apologies for its delayed responses and poor performance. Completely unsatisfactory.

Hello gilltm,
If you submitted your claim to the Clerk's Office, and if they have not acknowledged that they received that claim, then it appears your claim might have fallen through the cracks. Every once in a while, that happens.
You might want to submit the claim again. Here's the appropriate form:

Also, if you submit the claim via email, please ensure any replies from the Clerk's Office are not being filtered into your junk email folder.

It appears our Clerk's Office might not accept claims submitted via email. You should give them a call and ask if they received your original claim. Their contact number is 203-946-8339.

I am going close this request as DPW does not do reimbursements and that must go through the City Clerk's Office.
