The dead cat is still there despite the following:
* It has been reported here on SeeClickFix three times. The first was two weeks ago (see above).
* It has been acknowledged by the Department of Parks and Public Works here on SeeClickFix (see above).
* I called Public Works and reported it last week, and it's still there.
This morning I tried the following:
* I called Public Works again. They said they know about it but it's not their problem because it's on a state road, or something like that. They said that the Department of Transportation, Traffic, and Parking is responsible for removing it.
* I called Dept. of TTP. Nobody answered.
* I tried to call Parks, but there's no general number for parks now that it's part of Public Works. When I spoke with Public Works this morning at 203-946-7700, they said that number isn't for Parks issues, even though Parks is part of Public Works.
I'm resisting the temptation to post a close-up of this very dead cat.
I can see this has been a bureaucratic mess, and it appears there might have been miscommunication between you and our city.
The reported address in this particular issue, 775 Rt-63, is state-owned property, so when the city official told you the cat is on state property, they were correct; however, when they told you the Department of Transportation was responsible for resolving the issue, I believe they were referring to the State of Connecticut Department of Transportation, not our city's Department of Transportation, Traffic, and Parking.
Heads up, I'm not trying to endorse any of the information our city did or did not tell you. I'm just trying to help you connect the dots.
Thanks John and Tommy. I have so far resisted the same temptation of photo posting choice. I used to see a Parks and Rec guy in his truck cleaning up this same area daily. Is Edgewood park city or state domain? Who cleans the garbage cans because the cat is literally next to the can. I’ve posted on SeeClickFix for Edgewood park issues a few times and never were they addressed. Either I just gave up and cleaned up the garbage myself or someone else I knew did. Honestly questioning the value of SeeClickFix. Acknowledge and forget it seems to be the approach.
The easiest way to get this issue resolved is to pick up the carcass and throw it into a city-owned trash can.
It's not that hard, and to be totally honest, I'm wondering what my friends would have done to me if I had complained about this kind of issue when I was much younger.
If anyone reading this issue lives near or walks near 775 Rt-63, please grow a pair and get rid of the dead cat.
I sincerely hope that nobody who lives outside of Connecticut sees this reported issue because we're all fitting the stereotype.
The issue has been resolved. If you need to report a new issue please do so in See Click Fix or call the Department of Parks, Recreation and Trees at (203) 946 - 8004. Thank you.
