Why after two weeks is there STILL a sheet of ice on India St. next to the main P.O. and across from the library, one of the heaviest pedestrian use locations in all of downtown? I've watched three people fall there this week. Across the island, people have ben seriously injured-- me included-- from falling on ice. More snow is coming, which will cover that ice sheet. Dozens of people of all ages are parking there daily for the P.O. or library. I know your department has had a rough winter, and I appreciate all they do, but that's ridiculous to be there after so long in such a heavily trafficked area. If you can't send a crew to clean it up and make that safe, please let me know so that IO can get volunteers down there before the next snowfall. -- Bill Ferrall 508-228-8535.
