hahaha now all the bums can have a mini history lesson while boozn and druggin it up at our favorite downtown park! money well spent! was this another fassina sign job?
There is a mental health/homeless/drug rehab center located on the second floor of Bank of America. My family all had accounts there which we closed over the years because we were uncomfortable in the parking lot and going in/out of the bank. I don't know what moron decided to place a meeting center for criminals and drug addicts in a bank!, but it's true. They usually get their Social Security Disability checks cashed downstairs and then wander over to the library to get drunk and high. This is one of the many reasons I am moving my family out of New Rochelle. I can pay $15k+ a year in property/school tax elsewhere and not have to deal with this garbage. This is why I didn't want to live in a city. New Rochelle is not a suburb anymore.
The police refuse to do anything about it!!! They turn a blind eye!!!They rather not arrest these crack heads, herion addicts and drunkards because they dont want the city's crime numbers to go up.. its statistics fixing at its finest!!! They rather issue revenue producing tickets for parking, expired inspection stickers and traffic infractions, rather than arrest, ticket and contain these parasitic scumbags that blight the streets of downtown new rochelle. We want legislation & ENFORCEMENT.
The citizens of New Rochelle must 'flex their collective muscles' by contacting their District person and others that want our vote. Also by going to the City Council meetings @ City Hall to kick up some sand, contacting the City Manager, and the Mayor of "The Queen City of the Sound". What a joke that title is now.
Citizens can also call into Robert Cox @ Talk of the Sound. He seems to get more done than all the City of New Rochelle officials.
How anyone can let their children even within a mile of the Library plaza is unbelievable to me ! I never walk through the plaza because I always felt uncomfortable there. But, my friends from France were visiting and asked to walk through it. And what did we find? Druggies, panhandlers, alcoholics and grown men masturbating in public while kids played around them ! Most of the mothers or nannies of the kids were oblivious to it all, distracted by idle gossip or cell phone conversations. Yes, it is New Rochelle's Walk of SHAME.. There is NO QUALITY of life in downtown New Rochelle, it is as the good people of Larchmont call " the slum on the sound"..
When did 2 boys "get molested by one of the crazys" in / at the New Ro Library park? I didn't hear anything about that. What is it - a City of New Rochelle secret?
The Habitiat for Humanity office and dilapidated Re-Store on 524 Main Street is a magnet for the derelicts looking ofr a handout. The store makes Sanford and Son look like Tiffany's. IT is a disgrace for a main business district. I support what HFH does but thier location is totally inappropriate . They need to relocate from downtown and the trash will follow.
I agree that the HFH storefront is ragged however, not all the people in front of store are derelicts. Most are people waiting for one of the many Bee Line buses that stop directly in front of the HFH store. Let's face it: Main Street, New Ro ain't what it used to be and probably will never be ever again.
Thats true but Habitat's location exacerbated the problem. I see who goes in and out of that building and they are the same people that loiter in the Library green and bum up and down North Ave harassing me for money on the way up to the train.
Personally, I have never been harassed for money while waiting for a bus in front of the HFH storefront or walking up/down Main Street or in the NRPL, outside of the NRPL or on/in the Library Green. Why? I don't know - perhaps it is just me. But if these issues are such a problem, why not speak to the owner/manager of HFH or Mr. City Manager or Mr. Mayor, Noem Branson. I'm sure if the police are called they won't do anything so take it 'to the top'. Like I have previously said, these folks will want our votes so make them work for it and the tax dollars.
