Description

Businesses in the historic registered areas are required to adhere to the same asthetics as home owners. We can't even paint a muted window trim color without jumping through hoops but I was walking down Madison tonight and noticed how trashy it looks. 450 Madison has their glass door painted with a monster or some character. I understand it may be art, but it also can inadvertently encourage graffiti on other glass doors as it could be mistaken for that as well. 460 Madison already wasn't supposed to have a lighted sign on the building, but now the large bay window focal point on the front of the house is covered with a bright green advertisement. It's looking junkier and junkier and this is supposed to be maintained as the historic district it is. Why is this allowed and If it's okay, let homeowners do whatever they want regarding what's visible on the fronts of our homes.
