What a horrible intersection. Unfortunately I go through it nearly every day. As a pedestrian I dance to avoid being run down. As a cyclist and automobile I get the chance to park in the left lane. I also have the benefit, while pushed in the left lane, of seeing lots of dangerous maneuvers fun confused drivers pulling in and out of Feldman's Bagels. The greatest thing is this is all right under the nose of the public works building.

Yes, the petition process can be used. How 'bout somebody talking directly to DPW Director and neighbor Chapin Spencer, who is most responsive. Chapin has plans to improve this intersection for pedestrians, bicyclists and cars. He is fully aware of these needed improvements and plans to fix them. Only downside is no left arrow on Northbound Pine St on to Lakeside Ave. Talk to Chapin.

Actually - Chapin is the one who told me about SeeClickFix, and suggested I use this to report it when I asked him about this intersection's issues. My original request was removed, maybe expired with time, so I'm re-reporting it.

OK...I wrote an Almanak column about this a month ago. It was my understanding that the work would be bid this Fall and under construction. Just returned from downtown and I saw a crew taking some siting near Feldman's Will get an update Thursday night at the WARD 5 Neighborhood Planning Assembly meeting. Chapin will be there.

Thanks, I'm hopeful. It's simply dangerous and the two cars I avoided on my way to and from Feldman's today reminded me of just how much.

Saw that this got picked up by WPTZ but it's interesting that people are telling me this left turn light was taken out by a truck and the DPW decided it didn't need to be replaced - even though several businesses were signing leases and/or moving into offices on the street while it happened? WTH DPW?

At the City Council Meeting on Tuesday, September 8, 2015 a resolution was approved unanimously to award of a contract for the construction project at this Pine Street and Lakeside Avenue intersection.

The contract for the Intersection Improvements included a provision that the work was to be completed by January 8, 2016,

Improvements are coming.

This intersection work was completed in January. The new design changes were supervised the staff at DPW. The intersection now has updated traffic signals, pedestrian cross signals and a left turn signal for northbound traffic to turn onto Lakeside Avenue.

Thanks to DPW Director Chapin Spencer for getting this done relatively quickly. This hazardous intersection was recognized two years ago., by Chapin. It takes time and patience to get some of these things done.
