Description

I am reading these 'complaints' with a focus on the ones made during the Covid 19 Pandemic, and those that appear to target displaced and/or sick people. The problem is you people, not the public(government bodies) but you THE PEOPLE, these 'criminals' 'druggies' 'vagrants' whatever slanderous name you give them, are your neighbors, family, friends, etc. You come on forums like this and make anonymous complaints to the 311 staff, and get mad when your complaint is closed for various reasons, you hide and accuse people of various 'acts' that are later unfounded or no action taken by the 'public' and there are those of you who your first response is CALL THE POLICE, last time I checked Minneapolis PD is nationally disgraced, and under an active investigation, where you same instigators that come here and turn neighbor on neighbor by day, are out preaching defund the police at night.
Longfellow neighborhood should be a model for true community unity, in saving Miss Linda when she was faced with eviction, even the owner whom wanted her to move, joined the cause against himself. That's true humanity and compassion. Don't comment any of the junk about crime and nuisances, I get somethings at times require the Policing of the law. And safety for our elderly and our young should always be our shared goals regardless of our social status, employment, race, religion, and so on. But you should stop and think, put yourself in that displaced person's shoes you see sitting in a makeshift tent, hitting the heroine off a piece of foil, in an encampment deemed lawful, or even if its unlawful and the law is not concerned with it, and consider why that's what they are reduced to, why they are putting themselves through that daily ritual that never ends, where every day they wish it would be the day it does.
It's a unspoken fact, a large percent of those who are suffering from a heroine addiction, deep down don't wish too live. It's a documented and accepted by federal state and local authorities and health care, Addiction whether drugs, booze, gambling, sex, food and so on, is a disease, and many of these people want to stop, but they can't for many reasons, but the biggest is the addiction. The usage and the behaviors that accompany are symptoms, do you call the law when you see the diabetic inject insulin where ever, or do you lock up the terminal cancer patient because they vomit in the park from their chemo related nausea?
These may sound like night and day differences but I will tell you the alcoholic, the junkie, the diabetic, and the cancer patient are the same, and sometimes like my late mother, all four. I will also say, I speak from first hand experience, as a recovering addict, and a member of this community, you ain't gonna fix the problem only going to make it worse, and most of you I can tell from reading the posts, just don't think or care about how your assumed good deed, is not so good, and you may just be the one to push the lost addict over the edge, and significantly damaging them more than they are at present, and little do most know, you get more flies with honey than you do with vinegar, a little bit of compassion and care go so much further than what ive read here. I also speak from witnessing the appalling behavior of the authorities, and a little unmentioned fact, there is a fairly large portion of the drug(speed) using people ain't in the homeless camps or on the block selling etc but are working class, government employed, policy enforcing "those society label 'normal'" No need to cite the perceived danger in making contact and asking the offending person to remedy whatever the offensive factor is, yes there is risks in every thing we humans do, but most struggling addicts are either too sick or too high to be a danger. And in reality you take a risk in making these complaints, that homeless sick displaced person, that is caught with their fix and charged for a 5th degree possession has a constitutional right to face their accuser, and that applies to not only the law enforcement it also applies to the person who enlisted the law. This will only become more known by your night time job of defund the police, as more and more policing gets subjected to watchful and critical reviewing, anonymously made reports and tips that lead to arrests will result in real crimes by willful criminals to be dismissed in the interest of justice as defendants start to challenge the due process and right to face the accuser. Which one can presume, the alternative of taking your concern to the individual and voicing what is offensive to them would be less of a danger than the later angry and vengeful person that learns John Doe at 123 fake st was the one who initiated the events that resulted in their arrest and so on,
Don't believe me, do some research and see for yourselves, and dont hide discrimination by labeling it as "good faith effort"
Try addressing it as you would want to be addressed if your roles were reversed you might be surprised at the outcome. thanks
