I am curious why there is no enforcement of bicycle riding laws in the City of Albany. Of particular concern is bicycles riding on the sidewalks especially in heavy pedestrian areas such as Lark St. State law requires that anyone over 14 walk a bike on a sidewalk and ride on the street following all rules of the road. There are bicycles painted on many streets showing the correct place to ride. I have seen bicycles ride right past police officers on the sidewalk and they do not even make an informational stop. The fine for riding on the sidewalk ranges from $100-$500. If we could at least get cyclist to stay off the sidewalks maybe we can get them to follow other rules. I spend a lot of time in Montreal and Toronto with probably 20 times the bicycle traffic as Albany and almost never see a cyclist disobeying the law. I really am looking for answers this is a definite quality of life issue
