  • 10701-10763 Brighton Bay Boulevard Northeast Saint Petersburg, Florida - St. Petersburg
When entering Brighton Bay Blvd from Gandy, there are 2 lanes that merge into one within a short distance. The right lane is the lane that ends and must merge. However more and more lately, the cars in that lane are either unaware or unwilling to obey the fact that their lane ends and they must yield and merge. Myself and other cars driving rightfully in the left lane, have nearly been sideswiped by cars not yielding and merging properly. There is only 1 merge sign which is placed at the point where the lane ends - too late for any cars to see and act upon. Could we also get lane arrows/markings in the right hand lane to clearly indicate that is the lane that is ending and they need to merge over to the left?

1340 94th Avenue North Saint Petersburg, Florida - St. Petersburg
This is a little difficult to describe, but I will try my best. Within the past year, a new traffic light was installed at 94th Ave N and 94th Ave N. The light was installed to control new traffic created by the exit ramp from Gandy. When approaching this light coming from the neighborhoods from the West (in other words coming from First Baptist Church), the traffic light stops cars from turning left onto 94th, but still allows for cars to legally turn right on red. The issue I have is that no right turn lane was installed. If the lead car at the light is turning left, the cars behind are forced to wait for the light to turn green even if they are turning right. Now normally this would not be a problem; however, cars are beginning to drive off into the grass and pass cars on the right to get up to the light and turn right on red. This happens daily. These cars are illegally crossing a bike lane and going "off-road" to skirt the traffic held up at the light. I have almost been in 2 accidents by turning right on red while a car suddenly appears on my right side coming out of the grass area illegally. The solution - a police officer on location during the a.m. hours of 7-7:30 OR the best solution is to install a right turn lane. I am honestly surprised this was not installed during the initial planning of this intersection. Thank you for your time and consideration.

10111 South Frontage Road Saint Petersburg, Florida - St. Petersburg
I have serious safety concerns and wonder what the reasoning was for the merging ramp from 4th Street North onto Gandy Blvd. directly in front of the Life Storage facility. They have placed a 2-3 foot wide lane divider-curb what seems very close to the point where the two streets merge. Coming off 4th Street there is a 1000 foot curve and then one has to look almost directly back to see the oncoming (40 mph) traffic and merge in. 400 feet later they have placed the curb/lane divider. That then extends another 1,000 feet to the right hand turn into Vantage Point Condominiums. Looking backward to see the traffic openings and accelerating up to 40 mph it is very little time to react to the curb. Since it is not painted in any way and blends into the street I am concerned that people may not see it and either end up straddled over it, or just slam a wheel into it and cause an accident. Why wouldn’t the DOT start the divider another 300 feet down the road to allow a reasonable transition onto Gandy. That would still leave over 700 feet for the turn lane to be isolated from the main road. Please see the attached .pdf showing the area.
    Thank you for your time,

N Frontage Rd At 94th Ave N Light Saint Petersburg, Florida - St. Petersburg
When making a left turn from S Frontage Rd at 94th Ave N, there is a very long wait for the signal to turn green. When it finally does, it is impossible to make the next signal on 94th at N Frontage Rd. I have often been the first car at the S Frontage Rd signal and just barely make the signal at the 94th at N Frontage light. The timing is maybe about 3 seconds before it turns red. This poses an inconvenience for the traffic coming from S Frontage and a danger for those exiting Gandy onto 94th Ave N as it backs up traffic onto Gandy which is especially dangerous at rush hour. The timing needs to be adjusted to let at least 12 or more cars through the S Frontage light before changing back to red.
