Notified About

  • Otis And Grand - Alameda
A left turn signal is needed at the intersection of Otis and Grand. I witnessed yet another near miss of a left turn driver vs. pedestrian this morning at the intersection of Otis and Grand. Drivers trying to turn left at this intersection will often attempt to "beat" the oncoming traffic and it puts pedestrians in danger. So many students and young athletes cross this intersection. A left turn signal is needed.

    Maitland Drive Traffic Relief
My wife and I have suffered thru yet another collision to our parked vehicles right in front of our home. Our insurance has had to pay out over 90k in property damage to 3 totaled vehicles in the past 27 months. Every car traveling Maitland Drive is SPEEDING! we need 24 hr speed controls. We also need a bike lane on this block it has always been a bike route but is not in compliance with safe access rules.
Shady business deals between the city and developers, and back room agreements with HOA's have kept Island Drive closed to the parkway. Harbor Bay and Bay Farm residents need this opened as was originally intended.
What we got instead is a silly road at the end of harbor bay parkway that connects to Mecartney road that serves no one.
My suggestion to the city before lawsuits begin is the last 2 blocks of Maitland Dr. should be one way outbound, that gives alameda the traffic relief needed in the mornings and safe access compliance for cyclists. This would only cost a few signs and paint.. easily and quickly done. For in bound traffic coming off Ron Cowin Pky we all get a little better look at who's entering alameda's back door by routing them around the golf course or continuing on HB pky to Mecartney Rd. Maitland Drive is just too narrow to support the volume of traffic, there's just no room for error.
  • Code Enforcement Acknowledged
1142 Regent Street Alameda, California - Alameda

The owner of 1142 Regent Street dumped concrete on his drive entrance. It was not done to any standard, and was done without permits. It is in the curb & gutter, disrupting the flow of stormwater. They put plastic grating in it, approximately 3" wide, along the length. The plastic grating is not to any standard and is deteriorating rapidly.

This looks like crap. If I wanted to have Oakland standards, I'd live in Oakland and pay less taxes. I don't live in Oakland, I live in Alameda. For a reason.

This is the second time I've reported this. Not sure what happened the first time, seems people in Public Works have short memories.

Can we get this fixed? It's a blight and needs to be rectified. At least make the owner redo their curb cut to code.

  • 2300 Encinal Ave alameda, California - Alameda

On the Oak St side of the Kobe-Ya Restaurant, there is liquid run-off from the garbage of the business. This leakage smells like a mixture of rotting fish and rotting flesh. It leaks onto the sidewalk on Oak street. In the Autumn, there is a tree on that sidewalk and when the leaves fall and cover the garbage juice, it ferments and the smell is nauseating. I live nearby and lately, when I open my window that is down the street, the smell is so strong that it permeates through my house.

This has been going on for many years now (3 that I have noticed) and every year, around the hotter months, the garbage smell gets worse and worse. I have tried to contact the owners about it but I have gotten no response back.

Perhaps a solution would be for them to either double-bag their garbage or to regularly clean out the dumpster. I cannot stress enough how disgusting this smell is. Even walking past the garbage dumping area is nauseating.

  • Constitution Before Posey Tube Alameda, California - Alameda
In the center divide just before entering the Posey tube on Constitution Way are two homeless encampments that have been growing now for several months. Time and again the people who are living in these encampments cross the two very busy streets in on coming traffic, often with items they have collected for their encampments, and creating a the very real possibility of an accident waiting to happen.

    Stop your dysgraphic fascism, asshat.
  • 1401 Webster Street Alameda, California - Alameda
The Shamrock reopened and there are a lot of people smoking and vaping outside. The no smoking sign is ignored. Children walk by coming from the ice cream shop and face a wall of unhealthy smoke. Enforcement would be appreciated. Could the bar put up no smoking signs outside?
  • 700-712 Santa Clara Avenue Alameda, California - Alameda
Well, you guys fixed these lights and they worked for a while, but now once again, the pedestrian walk signals are screwed up. They constantly go through a pedestrian countdown 24/7, even when pedestrians aren't around. Several times they are stuck, prompting me to actually get out of my car, walk over to the pedestrian walk button, where I press it, just so the light will change and I can then proceed with my vehicle! You DID have it fixed really great, where the lights were on sensor and changed the signal when a car approached, unless a pedestrian had actually pressed the button to walk. But now, it just goes on pedestrian walk 24/7, which is really annoying. Please fix. thanks!
  • Stop Signs Needed Acknowledged
    1449-1499 9th Street Alameda, California - Alameda
How many people need to be run over (or nearly run over) at this intersection near Maya Lin School before the city takes action? I personally have almost been hit multiple times in the past 3 years with a group of small children while crossing in the crosswalk. Even with the crossing guard in the mornings and afternoons, there are cars that run through the intersection when pedestrians are in the crosswalk. Early action by the city will certain prevent lawsuits in the future.
  • 516 Central Avenue Alameda, California - Alameda

For the second time in as many months, some jogging event has left dozens of non-biodegradable stickers all along the path of their event. The plastic stickers have the name printed on them.

They stick on the ground for weeks, and sometimes won't even peel off. (See photo for residue of an orange sticker from last month.)

Whoever is putting these down should be held responsible for cleaning up their mess.

  • Krusi Park Alameda, California - Alameda
The only drinking fountain in Krusi Park is not working properly.
It seems like there is not pressure.
Please fix it for the thirsty children playing in the park!!
    Thank you!!!
  • 1505 Park Street Alameda, California - Alameda
A group of homeless have been living on this corner for some time now and have been urinating and defecating all over this corner. There is usually at least one of them here every day. They also like to hang out on the benches outside the antique shop down the street by Times. They have urinated all over the benches and planters there. The stench of urine is getting stronger every day. They may be using drugs here as well. They are a blight to this street. Please clear them out.
