Area around Oak Glen Park

Notified About

  • 3070 Richmond Blvd Oakland, CA, 94611, USA - Oakland Ave-Harrison St
This past Sunday night massive rains made a tree fall on Richmond Blvd. requiring PGE to come out for a downed power line. Three PGE support utility trucks drove into the green space across from 3070 Richmond Blvd. Not sure why. All three got stuck in the mud and finally freed themselves after turning the park area into a monster truck rally and digging large craters and rows of earth and mud with their tires. The park is now currently unusable for recreation.

There is a large camper and 2 vehicles that are up on the medium under the overpass on Richmond Blvd having a camp out....like this is Mayberry. It was too dark to take a picture and they were milling about so I didn't' stop. They are parked on top of the the creek opening. People will start walking their dogs or heading to work soon ( daylight ) and they don't look to be very neighborly, if you get my drift.

Multiple requests have been made to remove the RV under the overpass and now there is a tent in the middle area under the overpass across from the RV. They are next to the creek, there is trash strewn across the street and the RV seems to have a stream of customers buying whatever they are making with that propane tank. This needs to be resolved, as we have seen happen more frequently, the longer there is no action taken, the more that will come and overtake the area.

This is our third report on this homeless encampment. As time goes by, these individuals and these homeless encampment grows larger and getting worse. There are now one-two RVs, two vans, and two abandoned cars parked beneath the bridge. Trash, human waste, odor, and waste food are all over the place, blocking the entire walkway.

We can't walk down this street because this encampment and all of their trash are blocking the sidewalk and it's too dangerous to walk past them. We and our neighbors used to walk our dogs and take our kids down this street, but it is now too dangerous to walk or spend our days here! In addition to the RVs, there are always other vans or abandon cars parked nearby, and the individuals who own those vans/RV are quite unfriendly.

Please do something about these RVs, vans, and abandoned cars. Like take them away? This is so frustrated that the city not response with any of our complaints!

    Thank you!

The RV that is circled has been here for more than a month with multiple complaints. The RV with the arrow is new and appears to know the other RV occupants. This is how an encampment will grow exponentially with serious consequences to the neighborhood. Furthermore, there is a red mini van that has also been flagged multiple times for the better part of the year ( no registration, hasn't moved once in 6+ months, attracts garbage dumping) and it is still there as well. Please enforce the parking rules and the loitering/camping rules that there are signs all around for Oak Glen Park and Echo Creek.

At 5:30am this morning I heard a commotion at this location and received this notification on my phone. I was just leaving for work and for the first I was afraid. We have been reporting the encampment for MONTHS and it has grown and gotten worse. The people in the RV are dealing drugs, have blocked the sidewalk, created a hostile environment, and the RV itself looks like its ready to implode. It has attracted 3 tents, a van and car stuffed to the gills and an abandoned Limo plus a mountain of trash. The area residents have sent in numerous complaints and the City has not made one effort to get this situation under control. With the assault now on record and the numerous complaints, the City is liable due to sheer negligence. As I was leaving there where (2) police cars and a police report should be further evidence of the City's culpability. Enough is enough.

This homeless encampment is already expanding and creating "extra space" on the sidewalk. Blocking the entire walkway! Trash, waste, hazardous materials, and odor are all over the place. No one, absolutely no one, can use this street. No one is allowed to walk through this walkway. Where's our safety? Please make Oakland a better place!

Multiple tents and an RV under freeway overpass. Blocking sidewalk. I am unable to leave my house without going into the street. The people in the RV have multiple large dogs that they allow loose and they don't clean up after them, creating a health hazard for everyone else who wants to use the park.
