This is ridiculous!!! We the hard working taxpayers are continuously having to pay for this cleanup. Homeless camp just removed is now back with 6 shelters and another pile of trash!!! I live very close to this area and am tired of seeing these people trash this park and then just be removed for a day or two and allowed to come back with no consequences. There is help for them out there and shelters to go to. However if you’re a junkie they aren’t accepted and end up here at Los Altos doing whatever they please! Mayor Keller and City Council please step in and do something here!

I no longer use the Smith on Tramway, Icon theater or any other businesses in that area do to how dangerous it has become. For over 10 years I always got my gas at the Smiths... now I am afraid to get out of my car... and I'm a middle aged male. I have no idea what fears and concerns the elderly or female population must feel un that area.

Now there is a growing homeless camp on the northwest side of Tramway and Central. Is there a plan to make that area safe again? What is being done about the makeshift camp? I cannot believe how bad that area has gotten in less than a decade.

  • 8400 Barstow St Ne Albuquerque, NM, 87122, USA - Albuquerque

Barstow between Alameda and Paseo Del Norte has new road striping creating wonderful bike lanes for the kids to be able to ride to and from Desert Ridge safely. Unfortunately due to the new striping and the excessive number of cars that drop off and pick up from Desert Ridge, there needs to be a change in signage and protection/enforcement of the new striping.

Currently, the north bound bike lane becomes completely filled with cars lining up to turn right onto Greenarbor before and after school. There was a sign that said “Right lane right turn only” for Greenarbor, but now there is only one traffic lane, which is why the cars move to the right into the bike lane, blocking access completely.

Additionally, after school, Barstow north of Greenarbor fills up almost all the way to Alameda with parked cars in the bike lane waiting to pick up kids from the school. This creates a very unsafe situation where the bikes can’t ride in the bike lane and they can’t ride on the sidewalks due to walkers. If the bikes ride in the area to the left of the cars, then car doors can open unexpectedly or cars pull out once they pick up their child, putting the bikers at risk.

If the city can add “Bike Lane only” painting to the road, and enforce the no parking on Barstow (signs are present) then hopefully that will help. Another option would be to put pylons or some other barricade to protect the bike lanes that would help keep the cars separate.

APD was on site this morning assessing the situation and is working with Principal Saucedo. They have provided recommendations for solutions to improve traffic flow and safety. As a concerned parent, I am respectfully requesting this issue receive priority so our kids can safely use alternative modes of transportation to get to and from school.

    Thank you

Hello, I think I've been a pretty patient neighbor about this. I want to start with I do not blame the dog. The wall is far too low for this size dog. There are two sidewalks leading into Parkwest Park, this is one of them. The situation has made the sidewalk impossible to use! The entire neighborhood can't even use 1 of only 2 sidewalks leading into the park! I was empathetic early on, I know it's not cheap to raise a wall, but it's not that expensive either. It's been a couple years now. I've heard other neighbors have made complaints, yet nothing happens. I've also noticed that on occasion it appears they put some type of a shock collar on the dog as he does not bark. However this is not consistent and no one wants to take the risk in using the sidewalk any longer. This dog is inches away from your face if you are on the sidewalk. I've witnessed dozens of unsuspecting people have to jump out into the street in terror. It's wrong these people have claimed the public sidewalk leading into the park for themselves. For a while they had pigeon wire up which was absolutely useless, the remedy for this is raising the wall and stop terrorizing the neighborhood. The constant barking can be heard from blocks away as well. I want to reiterate I don't blame the dog, in this situation. Certainly there's some kind of statute that you cannot render a public sidewalk useless? Do we need to start a GoFundMe to raise the wall? Is there nothing you all can do to enforce this? Please help City Of Albuquerque! This has been going on far too long!

This is becoming a public safety issue: this guy is about to pass out on the road. Then my insurance will have to pay to get him care and fix my car. The whole area outside Town Park, Home Depot, and Franklin Plaza are overrun with transients, shopping carts and trash. Mr. Mayor, you want to meet people where they are at? Come out to this side of town.

Park was just cleaned up and vagrants moved out on Thursday 3/24, so they migrated to the S side of the park fence. As of 3/26 10:00am at least 7 tents/camps are back INSIDE the park. As expected the city failed us again by not permanently moving the vagrants out so once again taxpayers are on the hook for the costs. Great job Keller and city Council.

How do we clean up the park if Joy Junction comes to the park with a food truck and feeding the illegal campers (homeless)? I would think not bringing food to them and encouraging to not go to the shelters for food, help, etc.
