  • S Mcclintock Dr north of Guadalupe Rd, Tempe, AZ 85283, USA - Optimist Park Nw
McClintock Road has Bicycle lanes South of Guadalupe Road. North of Guadalupe Road, McClintock has three lanes southbound and two lanes northbound, with two sharp curves near the Fire Station. Motor Vehicles, typuically drive at approximately 53-55 MPH in this area and cannot see bicyclist riding legally in the roadway until the motorist is almost on top of the bicyclist.
Bicycle lanes on McClintock north of Guadalupe are essential to the safety of the bicyclist and to the northbound smooth flow of motor-vehicle traffic.
  • 3300-3340 S Rural Rd Tempe, AZ 85282, USA - Kiwanis Park
There is a need for some merging lane arrows on the pavement just south of baseline on rural road. We live in the area and people area always surprised that the road narrows and it has surly caused some accidents. It may not be high on the priority list for the city of tempe, but when they get the chance it would be nice to have this addressed. I should point out that rural road is one of the busiest roads running north and south through tempe and any official who has the time to visit this location during an afternoon; say between 3-6pm will see what I'm talking about. Thank You for reading this description.
  • 1325 E. Malibu Dr Tempe, AZ - Cyprus Southwest
I live across Malibu Drive from Hudson Elementary School and there is no traffic controls in place with many vehicles speeding or driving carelessly through this area. I believe that some kind of traffic control is necessary for the safety of the school children and all pedestrians yet nothing has been done to help with traffic control. i don't understand how to resolve this issue. Any ideas?
  • 718 North Mary Street Tempe, AZ, 85288, USA - US Congressional District AZ5
  • 50 N Mill Ave Tempe, AZ - Tempe
There's no sign on southbound Mill Ave at the bridge to tell you the two lanes merge into one. It's a dangerous situation.
  • Tempe'S 8 Highest Accident Intersections Tempe, AZ - Tempe
It seems that Tempe is taking a knee jerk police enforcement approach to its eight highest accident intersections, instead of studying the accident reports and the street design, to determine all the causes of all those accidents. I did not have access to the accident reports, so I just looked at the intersections for what they all had in common. First I noticed that each of the four high accident intersections on Rural Road have two left turn lanes and that Rural Road and each of the intersecting roads both had three traffic lanes in each direction. Then I realized that all of the eight high accident intersections had those two things in common. The two things that all eight high accident intersections had in common were three or more lanes of traffic on one or more of the intersecting streets and two or more left turn lanes on one or more of the intersecting streets. Another concern is that Baseline Road and Southern Avenue are often used by people who do not want to use the Superstition Freeway which is between those two streets. Would not a forensic analysis of the streets and accidents and road improvement be a much better long term accident reduction tool than enhanced law enforcement? Traffic calming approaches have worked well to solve problems elsewhere, might they be a better solution here? Would a redesign of Rural Road, McClintock Road, Baseline Road, Broadway Road, and Southern Avenue that reduced their traffic load provide a better long term solution to these high accident intersections? Since Tempe Transportation Department had a hand in the current design, and would understandably have a bias, should any study be done by an outside independent organization? When contacting Tempe, one is told that they have PROFESSIONAL ENGINEERS WHO KNOW WHAT THEY ARE DOING. IN OTHER WORDS GO AWAY AND DO NOT BOTHER US!
