    Karim's bike shop is a fire hazard and can in no way pass fire safety inspection. In addition, there are numerous accounts of people finding their stolen bikes there and seeing the owner deal with bike thiefs. How is this commercial establishment allowed to stay on business?

    We saw this one but there are many others. They seem to censor certain locations, perhaps to deter cyclists.

    Police should be involved to catch them.

    Please install stop signs here in the Russell direction of traffic to make it a four-way stop. This will improve cyclist safety, as Hillegass and Russell are both designated, signed bike routes. Currently, crossing Russell is unsafe due to uncontrolled cross-traffic, particularly because parked cars (e.g. the tall VW bus that resides on the northwest corner of the intersection) obstruct lines of sight.

    Traffic signal fails to detect bikes on the North side of the junction, in either marked position. When did this signal last work reliably, and how much does it cost each year? I have seen it working in both directions on only 2 days in the past 3 years.

    The bike detector for the HAWK signal at Hillegas & Ashby, in the WEST lane (SOUTHbound direction) just north of Ashby, is not working. Photo show my bike resting on the detector lines with no detection signal ("Bicycle detected when illuminated" is not lit and signal does not activate). Repeated experiences of this lately.

    Note that I filed a separate request for the same problem in the northbound direction, on the other side of the street: Issue ID: 13719354. It appears now that neither side is working.

    Especially at night, this creates a severe hazard for cyclists, since it isn't safe to cross Ashby with cars going by at high speed, and moving to the pedestrian cross-request button is also hazardous. There are no good options at that point.
