The Pedestrian Crosswalk signage and signals should be posted on BOTH sides of the poles (BOTH sides of road) to increase visibility and decrease potential for accidents.
This is a wider, well-traveled road with a posted speed of 35 mph, but with cars consistently traveling 5 to 15 miles OVER the speed limit, this pedestrian crossing is often forgotten or ignored. Since there is no prior warning of a crosswalk & no reduction in speed, this crosswalk is incredibly hard to see until a driver is on top of it -- even with the flashing lights (on one side of the road) activated. My husband regularly runs using this route & reports that consistently ONLY 10% of drivers see/acknowledge/stop for the crosswalk.

It can be made more visible with the large, yellow Pedestrian Caution signs on BOTH sides of the road (both sides of the signposts - with flashing lights on BOTH sides, also). Drivers scan a road while driving -- right to left, left to right -- so if I happen to be “seeing” the back of the sign, I see a silver pole & sign blending in w/ vegetation on the opposite side of street. Scarily, it doesn’t catch my attention until I am right on it.

I believe if it was more visible, there would be a higher level of compliance. I have new teen drivers, who - heaven forbid! - might have an accident that will impact them & others for the rest of their lives. There are MANY new & teen drivers in our community.

Schools have signs & flashing lights on both sides of both poles. Our children are important, but so are the adults who care for them. Since other traffic & safety improvements along this corridor will not be implemented for several years, please make it more visible & safer in the meantime.

A wire supporting a utility pole is secured over the curb and into the asphalt at the Mt. Vernon Road/Dunwoody Station Drive entrance/intersection. The entrance is narrow creating a difficult turn for school bus drivers.

The Dunwoody High School Bus Driver has proposed to the school system to change internal school bus stops to the Mt. Vernon Road entrance stating she is unable to safely make turns into the neighborhood during high traffic times.

This is a difficult intersection because of dense traffic during drive times and traffic traveling above the 35 mph speed limit during low traffic times. It is difficult for drivers exiting the neighborhood making either a right or left turn during these times. When a school bus is added into the mix and the driver believes the wire causes a safety hazard the intersection issues are exaggerated.

The proposal is currently under review by Dekalb County Schools Transportation Department, but these things have occured at the entrance:
    - Driver makes a very wide turn, pulling close to any cars pulling into the entrance
    - Driver waits until all cars leave entrance, pulling into the neighborhood
    - Driver waits, but when traffic doesn't clear leaves without driving through the neighborhood

Please coordinate with the utility company to move this wire to a safer, less obtrusive location.

The enhanced crosswalk in front of Chestnut Elementary School is excellent, however there is a red sign in front of part of the yellow arrows & flashing lights (southbound) which cause drivers to not be fully aware of the crosswalk. This has occurred to me on occasion when there is no crosswalk guard and minimal foot traffic. Visibility of ALL the signage for this crosswalk is crucial for pedestrian safety.
