    14180 Triadelphia Mill Rd dayton, Maryland - Howard County

    We are reporting an extremely hazardous stretch of road on Triadelphia Mill Road in Dayton that has a high-potential for loss of life and/or property. Request the county take immediate action to address an extremely unsafe stretch of road. The hazardous road is on Triadelphia Mill Road approximately 1/4 to ½ mile west of the intersection of Triadelphia Mill Road and Greenbridge Road in the Dayton area.

    There are several problems and the 2-most critical are:

    #1: Poor visibility due to UNUSABLE shoulder, steep embankments and severe visibility obstructions due to curves causing obstruction hazards.

    Particularly at street numbers 14170, 14180, and 14190 Triadelphia Mill Road, hilly terrain and curves block sight distance. Triadelphia Mill Road was built for traffic levels decades ago and is currently outdated and unsafe. Triadelphia Mill Rd needs to be made wider with a better shoulder to improve visibility for residents entering the road for oncoming traffic. Oncoming traffic cannot see cars entering the road from driveways due to road curvature and narrowness. Drivers pulling into the street routinely are forced to pull several feet into the line of traffic in order to see oncoming cars.

    #2: No guardrails on the road bordering two ponds.

    There is a large, deep pond opposite the hidden driveway of 14180 Triadelphia Mill Rd. The other pond is near the intersection of Greenbridge and Triadelphia Mill Road heading west. Both ponds are large enough to be marked as fire hydrants, but neither has a guardrail. These ponds get very large and deep during rain storms posing increased hazards.

    Howard County should be compelled to correct this situation before there is an accident. A county road inspector noted to us that: “…the visibility in this stretch of road is the worst I have ever seen…”. If Howard County does nothing to correct this problem, then the record will show that the public has made attempts to have the county protect its citizens.
