Amsterdam Avenue And 70st Street New York, NY - City Council District 6
At the South East corner of Amsterdam Ave a pothole so deep a traffic cone fits almost all the way inside
  • 230 West 72nd Street New York, NY - City Council District 6
This motorcycle is almost always parked on the sidewalk in front of 230 W 72nd St. Seems like it is just on weekdays, but still. Is this a violation of DOT NYC Parking Regulations?
It is parked on a tarred-over tree pit, adjacent to a bike rack and the area attracts a lot of litter.

New graffiti on mailbox on 72nd St between Broadway and West End Avenue. Looks similar to the graffiti reported here:

    Someone is tagging their territory!
  • 240 West 72nd Street New York, NY - City Council District 6
The "street furniture" on West 72nd St between Broadway and West End Avenue has been increasing. It is really all just advertising, as in these sandwich boards, boxes and flags less than 3 feet away from the entrance to Radio Shack.
    See DOT Title 34, Chapter 2, Section 2-10 (e)
  • 72nd Street And West End Avenue New York, NY - City Council District 6
Graffiti on brand new traffic control box at the southeast corner of West End Avenue and 72nd Street.
The old box had been tagged, also.
  • West End Avenue And 71st Street New York, NY - City Council District 6
By the curb cut at the SE corner of West End Avenue a good sized section of granite is missing. See the attached photo.
A similar condition also exists at the SE corner.
  • 218 West 72nd Street New York, NY - City Council District 6
I think the tree at this location was removed during the construction of "The Corner" 200 W 72nd St, but has not been replaced.
Please add it to the list of trees to be planted. The tree bed is already to go.

New graffiti on sign for bus stooping area at SE corner of Verdi Square. Says "My @#$%". It is about 10 feet away from graffiti reported a few days ago:

  • Verdi Square New York, NY - City Council District 6
Large ornate lamppost at SE corner of Verdi Square has been tagged with Graffiti that reads "Bob the Nudist". Unfortunate, since the post looks like it was recently restored with a lovely patina
  • 72nd Street And West End Avenue New York, NY - City Council District 6
Graffiti problem is growing on the 2 southern corners of West End and 72nd St. On the SW corner there is graffiti on both the fire hydrant and the pay phone kiosk. On the SE corner there is graffiti on the streetlight's Traffic Control box
  • 71st Street And Amsterdam Avenue New York, NY - City Council District 6
One of the planters at the newly configured Sherman Square has graffiti that reads: "9-11-01 Ha Ha Ha".
There has been a recent increase in graffiti in the neighborhood, but this one is particularly disturbing and inflammatory.
  • 253 West 72nd Street new york, NY - City Council District 6
The muni meter in front of 253 W 72nd St was tagged with graffiti recently. See picture
  • 237 West 72nd Street New York, NY - City Council District 6
2 more flagpoles on W 72nd St btw West End & Bway that are using flagpoles for advertising. 237 W and 241 W 72.
This used to be a DoB violation, has that changed?
Since this area is already calendared by Landmark Preservation Commission, please fix this before it gets grandfathered by mistake.
  • 222 West 72nd St new york, NY - City Council District 6
The flagpole at 222 W 72 is not being used to fly an American flag. Instead there is banner advertising the real estate business on the first floor.
  • 262-278 Amsterdam Ave New York, NY 10023, USA - City Council District 6
I reported this same issue months ago, and it appeared resolved. But it has begun again with gusto. Same location: along the east edge of Verdi Square on Amsterdam between 72nd and 73rd. Seems so frustrating since the city is spending time and money on rat control in this park. Here are some recent photos of separate incidents the pigeons and the seeds around the base of a tree.
It is repulsive to walk through them.
  • 262 West End Avenue - City Council District 6
262 West End Avenue has a beauty salon on the second floor, but is otherwise primarily a residential building.
After an exterior renovation completed last year the extensive signage from the salon's corner windows was removed. Now the building seems to have permitted the salon to use the canopy located at the residential entrance on West End to serve as signage.
I *think* that this may constitute a violation of DOB regulations regarding the type of information allowed on these canopies. The only reason I think so is because of information I learned during my volunteer involvement 10 years ago with the Ronnie Eldridge/Landmark West improvement project for West 72nd Street from CPW to RSD.

This problem has been going on for years, but someone (or maybe more than one person) continues to feed the pigeons along the east side of Verdi Square between 72nd & 73rd on Amsterdam. It usually happens mid-day to early afternoon. It creates filthy conditions and probably attracts vermin to the park area. Plus it is revolting to try and walk through the large group of pigeons.
    Thank you.
