There are many potholes at the intersection of Barwell and Shirley St. In fact, Shirley St, Ann Ave, and Charles St are in very poor condition. The road is crumbling away in places! I contacted Wake Co DOT about this issue a few years ago and they were going to send an engineer out to survey the road to determine if it was wide enough to meet standards so it could be serviced by the county. But I was not contacted by anyone, and now these roads are in even worse condition. Cracked, crumbling, full of potholes. I was told that these roads are private, not incorporated, and therefore receive no services/upkeep from Wake County. I was advised to contact the developer to fix the roads. I have no idea who this is! The houses were built in the 80s. We pay our county taxes, and gas tax, just like any other resident of Wake County, would really appreciate any help the municipality can provide.
  • Greenway Near Walnut Creek And Poole Rd Raleigh, North Carolina - Southeast
I reported this issue last year, 11/15, to the Greenway staff, but the incidents of dirt bikes and ATVs have continued and gotten worse lately, so that it is a near daily occurrence to see motorized vehicles on the Greenway in SE Raleigh, specifically, around Barrington Dr/Walnut Creek Loop Extension, and the Poole Rd Canoe launch area. Today, three dirt bikers blew past me going about 35 MPH. They exited at the Poole Rd parking lot. Raleigh PD is aware of this issue. If people see this, please vote it up! Maybe something will be done?

There is a big pothole at the corner of Poole Rd and Barwell Rd where the asphalt meets the shoulder. The pothole was probably caused by cars turning R onto Barwell Rd. This is a hazard.

It's time to clean up the trash littering Barwell Road, starting at Poole Road intersection again. Lots of cars = lots of litterbugs, and Barwell is heavily traveled.

Truck construction of the expanded Greenway caused inordinate wear-and-tear throughout the length of Shirley St. There are several large potholes, the road surface is crumbling away at the shoulder, and the asphalt is worn and cracking. Poole Rd and Barwell were both repaved last month, but no repair whatsoever has been done to nearby Shirley St.
