Hello! This is the address of Miller Library. There are potholes in the back aisle of the parking lot. This aisle is near the senior housing & the library (as opposed to the playground side or playground parking lot). Thank you for fixing these potholes!
  • 95 School St Hamden, CT, 06518, USA - Hamden_Feature 001
Hello! There are lots of potholes on the odd side of School Street between Whitney & Evergreen Avenues. The worst is a really deep one near 91 &/or 95 School Street. It's hard to avoid the potholes because the eastbound traffic frequently crosses the yellow line to avoid parked cars and/or delivery trucks, so westbound drivers have to skooch over & hit the potholes. Thank you for fixing this!
  • Hartford Turnpike X Vineyard Hamden, Connecticut - Hamden_Feature 001
On the west side of Hartford Turnpike at the intersection with Vineyard, there is a tree dangerously leaning over the Turnpike. Possibly just a branch needs to be trimmed, but it looks as if it would fall if we get a big snow or ice storm. There are other trees along the west side of the Turnpike between Old Orchard & Jackson that should also be checked out. Thank you!! also, my Category dropdown only allowed me one choice - "Post to Neighbors," so I hope Hamden Public Works sees this.
  • 2290 Whitney Avenue (United Bank) Hamden, Connecticut - Hamden_Feature 001
There is an orange wire at 2290 Whitney Avenue near United Bank. It has an exposed end and is either dangling at person-height, waist-height, or is on the ground or extending into the street. It's been there for some time. I don't know if this is a utility wire or not.

Traffic patterns around Town Hall area
  • Town Hall Area Traffic Flow Hamden Connecticut - Hamden_Feature 001

Please conduct a traffic study of the town hall area. Problems/ideas include:

    1) Remove Dixwell island closest to Whitney. Twice in 1 day cars were backed up in the left turn lane, blocking traffic in the nearest (middle) NB (or east bound?) lanes.
also, probably can't do anything about this, but instead of waiting for the crosslight, pedestrians zigzag in & out of traffic and then traffic is held up for the crosslight for no reason.

    2) NB/EB traffic on Dixwell could use an advance left turn signal onto Washington Avenue

    3) School Street x Whitney is often gridlocked, with backups sometimes past the Dixwell intersection. School Street could become one-way going away from Whitney in either direction, or become one-way in one direction (the Whitney to Evergreen side is narrow for trucks + parking + snow too).

    4) Have an advance left turn signal at the School/Hamden Hills - Evergreen intersection.

    5) Day Spring at Whitney is a problem. Due to parked cars & the narrow street, it's difficult to turn onto Day Spring from Whitney; even more so when another vehicle is exiting. Limit parking to one side of the street? Make it one-way from Whitney to Washington? To be honest, I often drive to Walgreens & turn there - it's easier!

Thanks for listening, and hope that some improvements can be made! Oh, I didn't know what to call it, but by "advance left turn signal" I mean giving left-turning drivers a chance to turn before the opposite traffic gets a green light.

  • Evergreen X Dixwell Hamden, Connecticut - Hamden_Feature 001
There is a large rectangular depression at the northeast corner of Evergreen x Dixwell near The Corner Deli. It's deep enough to cause my car to bounce. Not a pothole; may be utility-related or street paving related as it is so rectangular. But could you please add more asphalt (or whatever product you use) so that the street is even?
  • 2405 Whitney Avenue Hamden, Connecticut - Hamden_Feature 001

This pothole is actually on School Street in the northeast corner of the intersection with Whitney, near the Whitney Towers Apartments.

Also, I looked at the street paving list, and am requesting that School Street be added to your list, as well as East Rock Park Road (one-way street exiting into Whitney) south of the Eli Whitney Museum.

  • 655 Prospect Street New Haven, ct - Prospect Hill

I don't know the exact address, but there is a dangling black wire hanging from the power/phone poles. It doesn't reach the ground, but instead stops about 4-5' over the ground & is dangling loosely in the air.

This is on Prospect Street, and is maybe 50-100' south of the intersection with Huntington on the east side of the street.

yesterday evening there was a black wire dangling down. it's on the northbound side of whitney avenue, south of the lakewood apartments (1199 whitney), it's pretty long - not sure if it's phone or electric wiring.

there is an orange wire curled up on the sidewalk at the northwest corner of worth x whitney. the end of the wire is always in the street (whitney avenue). the insulation at the end of the wire is peeled away, exposing the wire. it's been there for a while now. i drive by, so don't know where it connects to. i imagine this is bad for pedestrians too.

There is a raised concrete slab of sidewalk that is raised.
Location = go behind the library and look at the crosswalk to the senior center with the 2 No Parking signs. Look right to the small projecting landscape strip. Look at the first parking space on the right. In between that first and the second parking space, the sidewalk slab is raised. This is on the walkway between the Miller Library parking lot and the senior center property.

There is a 6-10" pothole across the street from Jackson Hewitt on State Street. It's in the northbound lane, near where your right tire would hit it. It's in the vicinity of JH; not sure if the pothole is before or after the storefront, but it's very close. I was driving, so these are estimates.

I drove by yesterday and didn't see it. I think this was fixed.
