  • 1403-1599 212th Ave Ne Sammamish, WA, 98074, USA - Sammamish
212th Ave NE between Inglewood Hill Rd and NE 16th St is a narrow two lane road with no curbs or sidewalks. Since mid-September, the wind and rain storms has deposited leaves and fir needles on the road. This has accumulated on the sides of the road narrowing the roadway. The street sweeper hasn't been on this portion of 212th Ave NE to allow safer travel of cars going up and down the street. Please put 212th Ave NE high on the priority list for a street sweeper.
  • 1421 212th Ave Ne Sammamish, WA, 98074, USA - Sammamish
On the north side of the driveway for 1421 212th Ave NE there is an older open storm water drain pipe carrying water from houses to the north of this location. The pipe empties into a basin that drains into a pipe under the driveway. That pipe is blocked and the storm water is draining across the driveway and eroding the gravel at the edge of the concrete driveway. Basin and pipe need to be cleaned for clear drainage under 212th Ave NE to gutter on east side of road.

There wasn't a good category for this one, so change as necessary. I have additional pictures of this issue.

During construction of the house at 1409 212th Ave NE they required a concrete pumper boom truck to pour the foundation. The boom was unable to get under the communication wires so the contractor cut the wire binding together the various cables and used a nylon strap to tie the wires up higher. These communication wires (i.e. phone and internet) are now unbundled and lose.

The wires are on the power poles, but PSE is not responsible for them. The bundle consists of wires from various companies (Verizon, Comcast, Ziply/ Frontier) that may or may not be responsible for maintenance or damage done by other parties.

Other than the contractor for the building of the house at 1409 212th Ave NE being responsible to repair the damage done to these wires, who is responsible for maintenance of these communication wires?

Additionally, the communication wire bundle hangs down over my driveway at 1429 212th Ae NE so a 13' 6" truck can't deliver or do work at my house. Who is responsible to get these wires raised?

Departing the upper parking lot (Zeek's, 1st Tech CU) at Sammamish Village onto SE 4th has sight distance problems. You have to pull out across the sidewalk and into the bike lane and still can't see westbound traffic on SE 4th St coming up the hill. The landscaping is very good, but the speed of traffic coming up the hill is a problem. Is it possible to place a mirror at the exit that will allow you to see the cars approaching this exit?
  • Margaret Mead Elementary School 1725 216th Ave NE, Sammamish, WA, 98074, USA - Sammamish

This issue is related to the recently planted, dying native plants in the designated critical area on the NE side of the parking area at Margaret Mead Elementary.

The native plants are almost all dying or struggling. There are sprinkler heads there, but it doesn't look like the plants have been watered recently. They need water!

Could someone please check the sprinkler system to make sure it's operational, and then please engage the system and extensively water these plants?

Also, consider replacing the dead native plants with ones that do better in full sun--sword ferns and salal prefer the shade and cannot take the hot, dry conditions especially when they are young and establishing root systems.

I would also like to know the outcome of my observation and request. Thank you.

Each summer, the city mows a narrow swath on either side of the drainage ditch (our only means of stormwater conveyance) on the E side of 212th Ave NE, and they did this a few weeks ago to cut back the blackberry and other invasives that begin to cover the ditch and grow into the road.
Inexplicably, last week someone (a tracked vehicle with a chipper on the boom with a Sammamish sticker on it) came through and re-mowed, plus they ripped up and removed everything on the east-side slope next to the ditch (see photo).
-Not only did they rip out blackberry, but also ripped out or damaged native plants (orange honeysuckle, beaked hazelnut, ocean spray).
-The equipment destroyed the bark on one side of a young, native big-leaf maple.
-The western-facing slope is now exposed to the sun and has been devegetated. The trees above will have a much more difficult time growing in a hot, dry summer.
-The ditch now contains several inches of debris, and the pipes are partially covered and cannot convey water.
-Future rain events will erode the steep slope and wash soil, sediment, and debris directly into the ditch.

I want to know why this extreme devegetation was done and what plans the city has to mitigate the damage and prevent erosion and runoff.

Also, someone needs to come out and clear the debris in the ditch so the drainage pipes can again convey water.

Construction time and day violations continue at this construction site. On Sunday June 13, a contractor was on site working in the property most of the day. On Tuesday June 15, construction activities continued until ~8:20 pm. This is the 4th and 5th violation of Sammamish Code work days and hours for construction sites. Does anything get done to stop these contractors at this construction site.

At the end of 223rd Pl NE north of NE 18th St, there are stairs that descend to NE 19th St. There is a tripping hazard at the top of the stairs on 223rd Pl NE.

It appears that a cable TV company is passing a line across the stairs and placed the cable in a protective cover. This cover is placed on the edge of the first step down the stairs. The placement of this cover presents an extreme hazard to falling down the stairs. This protective cable cover must be moved to a location that does not create a tripping hazard for the stairs.

    See the enclosed picture.

The Sammamish road crews have done a good job the last couple of days to plow and sand the steep hill on 212th Ave NE. After the morning maintenance, we had more snow.

This afternoon a number of children used the 212th Ave NE hill as a sledding run. This has resulted in the snow being packed to a slick surface that could make driving dangerous.

Please put this on your list for added maintenance before their are accidents and cars in the ditch.
