My husband and I have lived in the Palisades at Milton Park for 15 years. During that time, we have thoroughly enjoyed living close to this beautiful lake with the bridge going over to a little island. Multitudes of people can be seen walking on the path around the lake; fishing; feeding the ducks, geese, fish; photographers taking family holiday photos as well as prom pictures - we all love our neighborhood lake. The issue is that the lake is possibly drying up. Even during times of plentiful rain, it seems that the lake is not filling up. Perhaps there is a compromise or unnatural disruption in the flow of water from the lake to the lower detention pond? If you look at the base of the bridge going over to the little island, you can see that the lake is getting shallower and shallower. Too much more and the many fish and turtles who find their homes in the water will ultimately die soon. I have posted my concerns several times on this site. The only answer I have gleaned is that the welfare of the lake falls under the auspices of the home owner’s association for the Lakeside at Milton Park Apartments. Doesn’t anyone care? I think we should start informing these folks about our mutual concerns.
PLEASE join me by writing The Woodward Management Partners / Lakeside at Milton Park, 26000 Mill Creek Avenue, Alpharetta, GA 30022 if you share my concerns.

I have lived in the subdivision called Palisades at Milton Park for almost 15 years. During that time I have passed by the pretty lake many times, either on foot or in a car. The lake remains at an extremely low level even though we have had an unusually large amount of rain over the past several months. If you look at the watermarks on the base of the bridge going over to the little island, you will be able to see how far it is down. I strongly believe that there must be a drainage problem. The retention pond on the far side seems to be always full. The man with the kayak who has many times in the past come by to check the overall condition of the lake hasn’t been there in eons. Please check on our lake before it dries up or becomes so shallow that the livelihood of the many fish and turtles living there is jeopardized. Thank you.

  • Lake On Mill Creek Ave. Seems To Be Drying Up As It Gets Shallower And Shallower. Might Have A Leak In The Dam! Would Hate For The Numerous Fish And Turtles To Die. Please Check It Out. We Have Lived Here For 15 Years And It Has Never Been So Low (Shallow). - Long County
The lake on Mill Creek Avenue across from the apartments looks like it might be drying up. We have lived here for 15 years and it has never been this low, even during periods of drought. Might be a leak in the dam / bank on the far side where any overflow goes into another retention pond. I would hate for the numerous fish and turtles to die. Haven’t seen anyone like “the guy with the boat” check the health of the lake out in a very long time.
