Large trucks ignore the truck restriction signs where Cardinal Madeiros meets Cambridge St in the north and Hampshire in the south. Trucks cut through the residential neighborhood in between often at high speed, endangering the many children in the area. The trucks also cause noise and particulate air pollution.

Trucks are allowed to make local deliveries along Cardinal Madeiros but they aren’t supposed to be cutting through the neighborhood to save time. Better signage and stricter traffic enforcement could help truck drivers realize that it’s not appropriate to be cutting through this neighborhood.

  • Bike Rack Request Acknowledged
111 Gore St Cambridge 02141, United States - East Cambridge
There used to be a bicycle rack at the corner of gore and fifth st which was removed last year when the sidewalks were rebuilt. Bike parking is scarce in this area so it would be helpful to have a new bike rack at this same location.
  • 1st Ave & 5th St Boston, MA, 02129, USA - Charlestown
Drivers headed south on 5th st very often blow through the stop sign to turn left on 1st Ave without stopping. This poses a danger especially to the many pedestrians and cyclists in the area. 1st Ave is used by hundreds of cyclists commuting to MGH research labs in the Navy Yard every day. Improved stop sign visibility (flashing lights) or stepped up traffic enforcement could be helpful here. Something needs to be done before there is a serious accident.
  • East St & Glassworks Ave Cambridge, MA, 02141, USA - East Cambridge
The junction of Route 28 and Cambridge Street. Turning vehicles often do not yield to cyclists going through the intersection. For example, vehicles turning left from East St onto Route 128 do not yield to cyclists who are traveling north from Cambridge St onto either East St or Route 128. Also, in the reverse scenario, vehicles turning left from Cambridge St onto Route 128 usually do not yield to cyclists entering the intersection from East St.

A broken branch needs to be pruned on a street tree on the eastern side of Cardinal Madeiros
  • 2 Berkshire Pl Cambridge, MA, 02141, USA - Wellington-Harrington
More Truck Restriction signs would be helpful on the north and south ends of Cardinal Madeiros Ave. Trucks do not heed the existing small signs and truck traffic on the road is taking a toll on resident quality of life in this densely-populated area. I would request more Truck Restriction signs be installed and stepped up police enforcement of trucks cutting through the neighborhood on Cardinal Madeiros Ave.

Dead tree that needs to be replaced.
  • 48 Myrtle Ave Cambridge, MA, 02138, USA - Mid-Cambridge

This section of Myrtle would benefit greatly from tree canopy, to better match the southern portion of the street. Installing a few tree wells on the sidewalk would improve the quality of life on the street, commensurate with the rest of the neighborhood.

    Thank you!

The sidewalk on the Gilmore Bridge was icy and treacherous this week after the storm. There does not appear that there was any snow maintenance (except for immediately in front of the Orange Line station at Bunker Hill). This has been a recurring winter problem on this bridge, making for unsafe conditions for pedestrians.

  • North Bank Bridge Boston, Massachusetts - East Cambridge

This winter there have been issues with snow clearance on the North Bank Bridge and the path through Paul Revere Park. After each snowfall, the bridge and approach paths have only been partially cleared, or not cleared at all. The previous two winters it seemed like clearance was more prompt and thorough.

This route between Cambridge and Charlestown is used by hundreds (if not thousands) of people per day, including several hundred who commute to work by bike or foot. It is a critical link between Cambridge and Charlestown and keeping it clear needs to be a high priority for the DCR.

Broken Bike Fixtation pump. I attached the pump hose to my tire and all the air leaked out. There is no handle to manually pump air into the tire. If there is an electric pump mechanism, it doesn't appear to be working. Now my bike tire is flat and I can't ride to work.

The Schraeder style bike pump adapter is broken on the bike repair kiosk in North Bank Park. The little pin inside the nozzle head has broken off, preventing the pump head from opening the valve on the inner tube. So the pump doesn't work.
