Someone dumped a load of construction debris and old broken computers. This is a hazard as it is in the street if a car turns a corner there are rusty nails and sharp wood.

Request from neighbors for a city provided trash can next to the bus stop.

We need crosswalks at this intersection. Better yet a four-way stop or something to slow down traffic on Maitland Drive. We cannot safely access Godfrey Park as pedestrians from any iter section along Maitland Drive which is very unfair for the surrounding neighborhood.

Someone dropped this on the curb.
Too large for neighbors to properly dispose of.

I have sat on the corner for the last 30 minutes. In under 10 minutes, the last 12 out of 15 cars rolled through or just completely 100% ignored the stop signs including an AC Transit Bus and an official city of Alameda vehicle.

We have children, elderly, and disabled in our direct neighborhood and I am tired of the city saying it takes time to handle these situations. There are a few years worth of complaints about this street and intersection. Our neighbors on Maitland and MeCartney want to see change before someone gets severely hurt.

Our request is: We want speed bumps installed down Maitland and MeCartney to slow the traffic from Harbor Bay Pkwy to Island Drive.

  • Maitland And Island Dr Alameda - Alameda
The intersection at Maitland Dr and Island Dr is extremely dangerous for pedestrians. At times it is nearly impossible to cross with out cars slamming on breaks and other cars swerving out of the way to avoid hitting pedestrians. This is a main route to the shopping center, schools, park, library and an senior home. I personally have called APD regarding this intersection with no response from the traffic sergeant. Neighbors are concerned and nothing is happening. There needs to be a signal for pedestrians on a street where 35mph is the speed limit and 55mph is the norm. I can honestly say I fear something bad is going to happen. When is enough enough? A crossing guard during school start/end hours is not enough. A man physically using his cars while pulling out of the nursing home in order to force cars to stop for a mother pushing a stroller to cross is not enough. A woman holding a senior mans hand and waving her arms to stop traffic is not enough. The list goes on...
