There is no bike access to the new Cross Alameda Trail from Appezzato Pkwy for cyclists riding in the street and turning left from S bound Main Street onto eastbound Appezzato. There is no way to join the trail from Appezzato Parkway after making the turn, just a curb that prevents access. Why no bike access from Main Street?

Bay Farm path around Mount Trashmore is overgrown and narrow: bike-ped-dog conflicts increasing and no room for safe two-way traffic. Please trim and cut back the overgrowth asap.

  • Harbor Bay Pkwy Oakland, CA, 94621, USA - Alameda

On Monday, 2/11/19, at about 11:10 am, I passed a pile of debris (a door, cardboard boxes, and other "trash") on the golf course side of Harbor Bay Parkway about 1/4 mile south of Doolittle Drive. It looked like it had been abandoned there.

The debris was piled in the parking strip just before (north of) the College of Alameda aviation facility as I was cycling from Doolittle towards Ron Cowan Parkway.

The bike parking rack in front of Tomatina is loose and listing because someone or something has loosened the nuts fastening it down. Already reported this using my desktop but did not have my photos available there.
  • 1338 Park Street Alameda California - Alameda

The bike parking rack in front of Tomatina has been unbolted and is loose, leaning over. It needs to be tightened down and a thread-locking compound applied to keep people from unscrewing the bolts. The bike rack is listing at about a 10-degree angle and no longer a secure spot for locking bikes. Every bike parking rack should be "locked" into the cement AND every bolt should be Loctited down with Red Loctite or stronger anti-loosening compounds.

I tried reporting this from my iPhone with the app but could not find a way to describe the problem once I selected photos from my phone. (!) The iPhone app is NOT acceptably transparent or easy to use. (Do Iog in first? Upload pix first? There are no instructions and there was no path forward clearly indicated to finish the report...BAH!).

  • 1200 State Highway 61 (Encinal/Sherman/Central: Signal Timing Alameda, California - Alameda
Cyclists entering this intersection just before or just as the green light turns to yellow cannot transit the intersection before cross traffic gets a green light and the red light comes on in their direction. This is unsafe. IMHO, the yellow phase needs to be longer so a cyclist traveling at 10 MPH can safely cross the intersection if they enter it just at the end of the green phase.

The bay trail bike-ped path from the Bay Farm bike bridge around “Mount Trashmore” to the Doolittle/Harbor Bay Parkway intersection is severely overgrown by weeds and wildflowers. As much as 2-3 feet of the path is unusable and blocked, making shared use by pedestrians and cyclists dangerous. Passing oncoming walkers or cyclists is iffy at best.

One of the bike parking racks in the parking lot on Santa Clara near Webster is down. Not sure whether it was vandalism or a vehicle hit.
  • 1617 Central Avenue Alameda, California - Alameda
What is the latest plan for saving the long-abandoned home at 1617 Central Avenue? It was in the news in 2013 but nothing seems to have happened since then. The home is unsafe and should be saved--if it can be--but the City of Alameda has not made public any efforts to save the building and rehabilitate it.
