  • Frontage Rd & Powell St Emeryville, CA, 94608, USA - Emeryville
Big problems with bicycle and pedestrian safety--construction work has blocked access to the crosswalk to go north/south across "Access Road" on the Bay trail (where it runs along Frontage road). There are no other options for bikes or pedestrians to get across the intersection safely. No signage warning that sidewalk is closed. No detour provided. Big problem, especially given that there will be many people using this segment of the Bay Trail over the weekend. (There is also a similar problem at Frontage/Powell, for pedestrians and bikes wanting to cross East/West on Powell, across the Frontage Road, on the north side of the intersection--there's no safe place for them to wait as the median safehaven has been closed by construction.)
  • 1291 63rd St Emeryville, CA, 94608, USA - Emeryville
Running water coming over sidewalk into median strip. Seems to be coming from utility boxes adjacent to sidewalk. On doyle between 62 and 63.
  • 63rd St & San Pablo Ave Emeryville, CA, 94608, USA - North Oakland
There is a major problem with the traffic detection mechanism at 63rd and San Pablo. The mechanism in the car travel lane on 63rd is not detecting bicycles, both on the East side and West side approaching San Pablo. This causes bicycles to need to enter the sidewalk to push the beg button in order to cross San Pablo with a green light. This is a particularly acute problem because the intersection is adjacent to a major Elementary School (Berkley Maynard Academy). The problem is occurring on both the East and West sides of 63rd Street at the signal with San Pablo. This is increasing the probability of pedestrian-bike conflicts, as well as crashes, because bicycles need to enter the sidewalk and then re-enter the car lanes after pushing the beg button. Many families and unaccompanied children use this intersection to go to/from school, to the nearby community center, and to The shorts fields. The next safe intersection to cross San Pablo is many blocks to the South, at Stanford avenue. This is unacceptable near a school. Also, it takes a very long time for bicyclists or pedestrians to gain a green light to cross San Pablo with the current light timings. Please ensure that pedestrians and bikes can have a green light more quickly, because people are crossing the street on a red light out of frustration and impatience, causing a very dangerous situation because the street is so wide. Thank you so much for your attention to this.
  • Ashby And Mabel (Se Corner) Berkeley, California - South Berkeley

The sidewalk on the south side of Ashby, just east of Mabel, is dangerously impassable. Vines growing over a fence are making the sidewalk on the south side of Ashby (just east of Mabel) almost impossible to use. Please urgently trim the vines back to the fenceline to allow full use of the sidewalk.

The sidewalk on the south side of Ashby (East of Mabel, between Mabel and Acton) is frequently used by children, families, joggers, and people waiting for the bus at a stop there. There are several daycares located near this corner so families walk here several times a day with toddlers.

Traffic travels extremely fast here, especially during evening commute hours. It is almost impossible to safely use the sidewalk with the vines growing over the sidewalk, especially if people are waiting on the corner to cross Ashby. There is simply no space.

The property owner who owns the property where the vines are growing (on Mabel) occasionally trims them, but not frequently and not to the extent needed to use the narrow sidewalk safely.

It is frankly terrifying to have to use this part of the sidewalk in its current condition, with children in tow and cars passing extremely close by at high speeds.

Thanks for your attention to this.

  • 1253-1291 63rd Street Emeryville, California - Emeryville
Street sweeper came at 12:25pm today, after the parking restrictions had expired. The street sweeper drove down the middle of the street, as cars were already parked in most parts of the block. Please speak with street sweeping company to ensure this does not happen again. It will now be another month before our gutters are cleaned of the trash that has accumulated.
