I am really tired of seeing motorists roll down their windows and dump trash out of their cars onto the street. Talk about TRASHY! This city really needs an anti-littering education campaign. Aren't we all sick of this? Plus all the illegal dumping that sullies our parks and common spaces? Take trash seriously - let's do something about it and stop treating our town like an ashtray and dump!

Rotting branches from city trees came down during recent wind storms. Please collect. NE corner of Glen Rd and Norton Pkwy.

Immediately post Trash pick up on Sherman. This mess is all too common along this route.

I have had branches that fell during the winter/spring storms on the ground near my trash/recycling bins for months and they have not been removed. I would be most grateful if they could be removed. Trash is collected by the Oak tree on Glen Road near the corner with Norton Pkwy.

I don't know what's going on here, but am dismayed to see all the trash strewn about Sherman Ave and adjoining streets. Whether it is due to loose trash become airborne during the collection process or is the result of people carelessly tossing trash out their car windows - New Haven needs a BIG anti-littering campaign. The city looks like a refuse heap. Time to clean up!

I placed storm damage yard waste on the curb on Glen Road by my trash after the tornado, but it still has not been collected.

No street sweeping "No Parking" signs have been placed in our neighborhood at all this summer.
  • Crescent St New Haven 06511, United States - Beaver Hills
I am a resident of Beaver Hills. We really need permanent yield signs, not these temporary short signs on stands that keep getting damaged and knocked over. People also still do not understand how to navigate the traffic circle so signage that reinforces correct approach and entry would be useful.
  • 301–327 Goffe St New Haven 06511, United States - Dixwell
Put a left turn signal at westbound Goffe Terrace and Sherman. Having to sit through 6 changes of the light is completely, totally and utterly *ridiculous.* especially when oncoming Eastbound traffic has a left turn signal. This is one of the stupidest traffic points in the city.

I could use advice. On a walk this morning with friends I discovered a Killdeer nest on the athletic fields at Hillhouse High. I was distressed to find that in preparation for today’s track meet on those fields, the nest had been painted over with white field chalk. There are 2 adult Kilkdeer - one on/near the nest & another farther away. I spoke to staff setting up the event and told them about the nest. They knew about it, but seemingly painted over it anyway. This is where the javelin toss will be today. Grrrrrr. The staff were not interested or helpful until I approached a young man asking if I could mark where the nest is so people would steer clear if it. He gave me a field flag to mark the area & told me he would tell Parks & Rec at the school that they had painted over an active nest. I called DEEP & they are not interested in assisting. I also posted on the ctbirds listserv! I also called the New Haven Public School Athletics Dept. and left a message. I will go later today to assess and make sure birds & nest are okay.

If you have ideas regarding anything else I might do, please share.

Black trash bags filled with bottles & other trash keep showing up on the corner of Union and Chapel.

I just saw 3 separate vehicles blow through the intersection of Norton Parkway and Glen Road approaching it at 45-50 mph and barely slowing for the stop sign. I am sick of people using Glen Road as a speedway cut through. I'd really like to see some action to calm the traffic. There are families with young children who play along Glen Road and people who walk their dogs who do not deserve to live in fear of flagrantly inconsiderate & dangerous drivers. I hope the city will take action.

There is a large dead branch on a city tree that is hanging over my house & back yard. This tree has dropped dead branches in excess of 25 feet in the past. Those branches fell on the sidewalk in on the street by my house. This branch is a great liability since it is dangling over private property and also a backyard where dogs and people tend to hang out in the summer. Please come and trim this branch! Thank you.

This is the 3rd DANGEROUSLY large branch this tree has dropped in the past year. If a car or person had been under it, both would have been devastated. PLEASE check out this tree. Several branches overhang my & my neighbor's houses & we fear damage to our homes and injury!

Off-leash dogs on city streets. I have seen an individual walking 2 large pit bulls off leash near Hillhouse High in recent days. Given the recent tragic dog attack in Beaver Hills, I'd like to see police enforcing an on-leash policy for all dogs being walked by owners in the city. No owner can control his or her dogs action when it's not on a leash.
