  • Tomesello Way Revere, Massachusetts - East Boston
This is the corner of Tomesello Way and the road that runs behind the Stop & Shop. When it rains hard this corner at the crosswalk fills 3 inches deep with water blocking people, strollers and wheelchairs from being able to cross to the Stop & Shop safely and without the potential for slipping and being injured. Maybe the city can use some hottop to build up this corner to make it a ramp from the sidewalk to the crosswalk that pushes any stagnant water away from the crosswalk.

One of the new trees planted on Winthrop Ave. along the Suffolk Downs red fence has been uprooted and is lying on the sidewalk. It needs to be replanted.

I put in a SeeClickFix # 3311601 because I stepped in the open tree well back when there were trees in the pits and sprained my ankle. I asked that the city put in the iron covers (grates) , like there are on all the other trees on Summer Street, so that people could walk on the sidewalk and not be injured. Unfortunately the city removed the trees rather than put in well covers. My goal wasn't to have the trees removed, we need more trees in downtown Boston. But be that as it may. Now there are two empty trees pits and the color of the material in the pit is very like the color of the sidewalk so now many people are stepping into the tree pit and potentially hurting their ankles or knees. So can the city either put in new trees and use the iron covers to cover the tree wells, like the other trees on Summer St or fill in the tree pits so that people aren't potential hurting themselves. Thank you.

The two trees in front of the 5 guys restaurant 58 summer street are missing their iron grates. This makes it hard to walk on the sidewalk because it is very narrow for the amount or people walking their. So you are forced to wait for people walking the other way to walk past or step into the mud around the tree. I unfortunately did this the other day and badly sprained my ankle. The other trees on summer street have the iron grates so can we get these two trees the grates they need so people can use more of the sidewalk and not hurt themselves. Thank you.

The traffic light on the corner of Tomesello Way & Winthrop Avenue is out. Traffic from Tomesello Way is trying to cross Winthrop Ave and it is very dangerous. Especially since the sun is low in the sky and making it difficult for traffic facing the sun to see. There should be a traffic officer there to direct traffic at least during the rush hour so there won't be a serious accident.

I wrote about this issue in January 2016 with post #2181908. I am not sure if any progress has been made.

Since we have a shopping mall on Furlong Drive it would be a great help to many people if the 119 bus could stop at Stop & Shop before it makes the Beachmont Loop. In a perfect world it would be nice if the 119 bus could stop at the Furlong Drive mall in both directions, but at the least stop on it's return to Beachmont to pick up people who have done their food shopping at Stop & Shop and are returning to their homes in Beachmont. It would be a great help for people who live in Beachmont when they are carrying home their groceries. Especially in the winter when the streets and sidewalks are covered in ice and snow. So anything that could be done on this is appreciated.

Obviously, it would add a couple of minutes to the bus route and the route times would have to be adjusted but I think it is worth the effort. Thank you.

This is a difficult issue that I am not sure the City can resolve but I wanted to bring it to your attention. In the last couple of months many more people have been taking Target and Stop & Shop carts out of the mall and abandoning them along Tomesello Way and on Winthrop Ave as far away as the Beachmont train station.

This possesses 3 problems. First, many of the carts are abandoned on the street which can lead to automobiles running into them at night. Second many people abandon the carts on the walk ways and sidewalks which makes it difficult for people with child strollers and wheelchairs to get to the Mall. Lastly, often there will be a half dozen or more carts along Tomesello Way and Winthrop Ave which makes the area look run down. And as we know once an area starts to look run down crime follows.

I understand the stores want people to use the carts to take their shopping to their cars in the parking lot. And blocking the way for the carts to move will also block the ability of people with strollers and wheelchairs to get access to the stores. So there is no easy answer, but it isn't unusual on a weekend to pass many many carts abandoned along Tomesello Way.

  • 624 Winthrop Avenue Beachmont Train Station, Revere, Massachusetts - East Boston

The intersection in front of the Beachmont train station is very dangerous. One of the most serious problems is the traffic coming down Winthrop Avenue that wants to turn right onto Bennington St. They drive too fast through the intersection when the green light turn arrow is on, and still too fast without stopping when the green arrow is off. But the worst is when the walk sign is white for the people to cross. The traffic can't see the walk signs so the traffic proceeds through that turn without stopping and almost hits people trying to cross in front of the train station, and also people crossing from in front of Dunkin Donuts across Bennington St to the park on the corner. The cars can't see around the corner and drive too fast and there are people in the crosswalk.

Can't we make the lights turn red & yellow to signal to the cars that people are crossing? Or at the least put up a sign in front of the T station that tells the traffic coming down Winthrop Ave to stop on red before turning?

If my explanation isn't clear I would be happy to speak with someone on the phone or meet them at the train station to show them what the problem is.

What is sad is around election time politicians come down to that corner to campaign and they must see the problem but no one has, as yet, addressed it. I hope it can be fixed now.

On Pole # 2 the light was out but when I walked by the sensor turned the light on. It could be the sensors on poles 3 & 4 may need to be adjusted.

I know this is not strictly a City of Revere issue. However, I would like the city to work out with the MBTA so that the 119 bus will stop at the 40 Furlong Drive Mall, outside the Stop & Shop, in both directions. Local residents especially those who live on the far end of Beachmont would appreciate a bus that would take them to the Mall and back. Especially in the winter when the sidewalk on Winthrop Ave along the Suffolk Downs red fence doesn't get shoveled. People have to walk in the street and it is dangerous, especially to mothers pushing a baby carriage and trying to carry groceries. There should be no problem with getting into and out of the Mall and although it will make the total round trip a little longer time wise, I'm sure the residents will appreciate the service..

On the telephone poles on State Road in Beachmont American flags were hung. But now they are all ripped and torn and need to either be replaced or taken down. The American flag is not supposed to be flown in this condition. Especially during the 4th of July.

    Thank you
