12 inches long, 6 to 8 inches wide and about a foot deep and growing sinkhole, very dangerous if you accidentally step into it at night. Its on the sidewalk near the curb and right above a sewer drain in front of 60 School street.
  • 91 Tremont St Salem, Massachusetts - City of Salem
For 3 weeks now in front of 91 Tremont there is a huge trashed headboard on the sidewalk, a dead Flattened RAT on the sidewalk and pile of yard waste not bagged, I have to walk in the street with 2 little dogs to avoid the rat on a darkened bad area of Tremont with speeders going by. The city should also take a good look at the retaining wall that is going to fall at that house. every time it rains the wall gets worse. Please make them clean up the sidewalk .

  • 91 Tremont Street Salem Massachusetts - City of Salem
Its been weeks since the last real snow storm and no excuse for the forty foot sidewalk in front of 91 Tremont not to be cleared of snow! This is a dangerous area to have to walk dogs in the street to pass this house! The city needs to ticket and enforce the city ordinance. This house had no problem with clearing their driveway for parking cars and there is no excuse for the sidewalk not to be cleared! It's a dark dangerous stretch of road to walk in the street here! Please ticket this apartment house!
  • 78 Tremont Street Salem, Massachusetts - City of Salem
This area of sidewalk is not shovelled at all and your forced to walk in the street in the same area where someone was hit by a car last year. Trucks are parked so you have to walk way out in the street as on coming cars are coming around the corner of School st onto Tremont. Please enforce the snow removal ordinance here. It's very dangerous for anyone walking towards the store.

91 Tremont st, 78 tremont st. and half the houses on the left side of Balcomb st. to the corner of Oakland st., 55 Highland st , These houses can clear a place on the sidewalk like 55 Highland st. for their car? while I am forced to walk in the street with 2 small dogs. They need tickets for not clearing the snow off the sidewalks. We need action taken to make these people clear the walkways!

Police need to dress in street clothes and use the pedestrian light between 8pm to 10pm and during daylight hours, across from and at Yourneigborhood Market parking lot and start ticketing the cars that whiz by you while your in the street and they have a red light! With the blinking pedestrian light constantly going people just take for granted that it dont turn red . I was nearly hit by a blue mini van tonight going through the red light! "This happens every time trying to cross this street" I as well as others have complained about nearly being hit while crossing when its red and police do nothing!
Shut off that light so cars will pay attention to it when it turns red! Before someone gets killed! Its only a matter of time of crossing at this light that I get hit and will prove though video the city does nothing to fix the problem but add to it with that light constantly blinking yellow light and yes the city will have a lawsuit against them for ignoring this issue and doing nothing to solve the problem!
  • Oakland St Salem, Massachusetts - City of Salem
Oakland st is one of the worst streets after it snows. It still has snow and ice from that last small amount of snow we had. Its hard enough to walk on the icy sidewalks with an exception a few houses that do salt and sand but your forced to walk in the street and its never plowed good or salted and is still a mess from the last snow we had. please pay attention to the plowing of this street during this new coming snow storm. thank you.

The city painted the yellow lines right through where our crosswalk belongs at the pedestrian lights. We have 3 bus stops at this pedestrian light, NO crosswalk since the road was paved 2 months ago! Yellow lines painted straight through, where our crosswalk belongs at the pedestrian light on Tremont st.

Hedges at 66 Tremont st on the property line of the city sidewalk and my driveway are over 6+ feet tall at a blind driveway, obstructing views. Pedestrians can not see my vehicle exiting my driveway at # 68, nor can I see them until they step pass the hedges and at that point, they are behind my truck., This is a public safety issue for the children walking to the 3 bus stops 20 feet away and pedestrians going to the neighborhood store, having to walk past my driveway. The city addressed only that the bushes needed cutting back off the sidewalk and it was made clear to me by the person in authority that he is also a friend of this neighbor so once again , This is a Public Safety issue that after talking to a disabilities lawyer that has told me the city must address the issue after a complaint and it is also is impeding my use of my driveway. This is my 3rd complaint before the lawyer writes his letter and I file against the city for not acting on a public safety and personal safety issue, Traffic can not see my vehicle leaving my driveway on a well travelled street due to the over 6 foot height hedges along the sidewalk with a height range from 6+feet to 11 to 15 feet. at the 11 to 15 foot end of 66 Tremont st. frontage, there is a telephone pole obstruction so traffic can not see me exiting until they are in front of #66 "IF" the bushes were at the height of 4 feet but they are not, they are over 6 feet. "They were kept at 4 feet high for the years when Rosemary Ryan "now deceased' took care of her property. but are no longer kept at a safe height for the safety of pedestrians and traffic. Another solution the city can pay to put up a blind driveway sign. or have them lower the hedge. Between Japonica and School st, I am the only home that has a driveway on Tremont. Its a blind driveway and even more so, with the over 6 foot abutting hedges.

street light has been out for two weeks and its a very, very dark area to walk on the sidewalk at night.
  • 37 Highland Street Salem, Massachusetts - City of Salem
A sink hole was filled in not so long ago but now its back and growing bigger every week. Its deep enough to do tire damage.
  • 187 North Street Salem, Massachusetts - City of Salem
187 North st has major over-growth of bushes over the city sidewalk forcing you to walk on the grass strip between the street and sidewalk and your also forced to walk single file where as, these bushes overhang a 4 foot wide sidewalk by 3 feet. . "These natural fences" are out of control at 187 and 209 North st and 66 Tremont st. Google maps show these bushes from last year or prior and do not reflect the status of the 3 addresses the over-grown bushes "natural fences" to date. Either the city needs to cut the bushes off city sidewalks or notify and or even fine the building owner if they do not comply! "All 3 of these premises are 10 times worse in the winter and sidewalks become impassable weighted down by snow. "
  • Overgrowth Archived
66 Tremont St . And 187 North St Salem, Massachusetts - Malden Ward 4
At both addresses the city needs to cut back to the property lines, the bushes at both of these addresses since the overgrowth at 187 North st. overhangs the sidewalk by three feet forcing you to walk on the small grass strip near the street. At 66 Tremont st. the bushes overhang the property by two to three feet depending where you look. This creates a safety issue for an already blind driveway at 68 Tremont st. that is also at a 3-way intersection. If the bushes were cut back to the property line it would give the 4 feet of sidewalk clearance for on coming cars coming from Grove st. and on Tremont st. to see a vehicle trying to get out of the blind driveway at 68 Tremont st. "It is a safety issue" and the city responsibility to cut back overgrowth on city property or to enforce any law requiring home owners to cut back their bushes off city sidewalks. This is a safety issue on Tremont st. and this area does not have a grass strip of land between the street and sidewalk to give on coming cars the view of seeing a vehicle leaving the driveway at 68 Tremont. These bushes need cutting back ASAP. Also the bushes that overhang make it very hard in the winter to shovel a path for pedestrians to walk to the store with overhanging bushes and no grass strip to pile snow. Please cut back the bushes off city sidewalks here. thank you.
  • 27 Dunlap St. Salem, Massachusetts - City of Salem
On the sidewalk at 27 Dunlap st. there is a deep sink hole getting bigger every week. If someone steps in it at night they will break a leg! . Someone had filled it with rocks at some point but the sink hole has now swallowed up the rocks and the asphalt is cracking around the hollow hole . It needs to be fixed before someone gets hurt!
  • 93-95 Tremont Street Salem, Massachusetts - City of Salem
The city put up a small yellow 25mph sign near the corner of Tremont pl, on Tremont street. the problem it is that it is on a small pole behind a large light pole and coming down Tremont from Peabody you can not even see the sign. Anyone that gets a speeding ticket here will win their fight in court over the fact this sign can not be seen behind a big light pole and the sign is yellow making it much harder to see at night. Basically the sign is useless and would have been better placed on the light pole the blocks the view of it.
  • 69 Tremont St. Salem, Massachusetts - City of Salem
Its bad enough a car flipped on its roof near this area a few days ago but to have no pedestrian light to help stop the speeders on Tremont in this area is dangerous! Please fix our pedestrian light its also right at the bus stop where kids need the light to cross. thank you

  • 51-99 Barr Street Salem, Massachusetts - City of Salem
There is a water shut off valve at the corner of Barr st ext. and School st. that always has a puddle of water and growing bigger daily causing an ice slick across the roadway on Barr st. ext. It appears to be leaking and may become a much bigger problem if the force of water underground is eroding around this water shut off valve. Its already causing a constant ice slick across the roadway.
