Eye on the Neighborhood

One of the stipulations in the city’s recent residential parking sticker change effective 2/29/20 was that homes / apartments will be given 2 residential stickers... 2.... why is it that 87 Garland Street Apartment #1 has 5 cars on the street with newly registered stickers please check the following tags ( 1RKM45, 1NHS27, 6XJP10, B43561, 444TT6) they also have 4 cars in the back parking lot of this 2 family. I know the owners of this building and they live on site in unit#2 they have 2 vehicles that are parked in their garage. Unit#1 is running a boarding house and all of you in city have had ample enough notice. So my question to the city why are you not enforcing your new parking requirements of 2 residential stickers per unit????? This family must have some connection to a city hall employee as they always get a heads up prior to inspections services visit and the heard moved out for the day!!! City of Chelsea please start practicing FAIR and EQUITABLE practices and ensure that we all follow the same rules and not just a select few..

Hospital Parker’s have now progressed to 2nd shift 2:30pm thru 12:00pm. The nurse who drives this car informed me that the hospital told her to park on Garland street in Chelsea when I asked her how long she was going to be in front of my house she said until 12. While I was talking to her another one pulled up and parked. OK City of Chelsea and Mr Ambrosino what the actual heck are you thinking??? It’s bad enough that we have to wait for these idiots to leave work and move their cars so we can come home... Now we can’t even have guests over after work hours or better yet we can’t park in front of our own homes after a long day at work, what in Christ’s name are you thinking by allowing this?? We are supposed to continue to pay all your salaries so you can victimize us and play political Texas hold ‘em with our right to quiet enjoyment of our homes. I AM THOROUGHLY DISGUSTED WITH THE MANAGEMENT OF THIS PARKING CIRCUS YOUR RUNNING.. this “good neighbor” agreement that you have with CHA hospital is bordering on corruption and I question the legality of this given that the City did not provide full disclosure to the residents of Garland Street.

Coming up hill on Lawrence Street trying to make a right turn onto Garland Street has to be the MOST dangerous aspect of this neighborhood! There is ALWAYS a car parked in direct violation to parking laws completely ignoring the required clearance of an intersection, parked directly aligned with the stop sign blocking safe turning. The city needs to stop this immediately there will be a deadly accident here due to the incline of hill and blocked visibility. I have been hit in this intersection while on Garland as trucks from Lawrence Street attempted to turn around the jerk who parks directly on the corner. This not acceptable Whidden Hospital needs to find a safe place for their employees to park instead of being a public nuisance to this neighborhood

Hello CHELSEA PARKING BOARD...!!!, please be advised that this issue is WELL DOCUMENTED, since you have decided to turn your head and not protect the resident and home owner rights due a questionable political alliance with Cambridge Health Alliance.. Due to the fact that our tax dollars pay your salaries perhaps you could throw us a bone and put signs up so these LAZY hospital employees do not park at the very edge of our drive ways causing an unsafe situation when trying to exit my property. This is absolutely insane, the people in the 80-80 block of Garland can’t even have guests because the hospital consumes our parking all day everyday even weekends and holidays. Your ineffective parking restriction for over night does not protect us and YOUR alliance with CHA is unethical and illegal. New Trees !! Thank you city of Chelsea for making my neighborhood beautiful and adding to my property value..

Widden Hospital

the city invested in a number of trees up here on Garland Street, 2 trees did not make it. We have 2 dead ones 1 on each side of the street directly across from each other. Looks like the winter may have been to much for them. The other trees that the city planted are doing well.

This is a 2 family home each unit has 1502 square feet 4 bedrooms and 1 bathroom. On the first floor in unit 1 there are 4-5 families living in this small space. This can’t be safe for anyone. They have 6 different vehicles inclusive of 2 construction vans. Perhaps ISD should check the basement for illegal apartments or the bedroom doors for hasp locks. I can’t imagine how they can all live in there. The mailbox has a long list of people taped to it so obviously they don’t mind the overcrowding. They are consuming a 3-4 parking spots that other property owners / tax payers rely on. I understand that we must all learn to share and honestly they are all very nice people over there however it’s not safe, it’s a potential fire hazard, and it makes Prattville look like the tenement slums. On the parking issue I believe if people followed the rules we would not have a parking shortage this neighborhoods streets and parking was not designed to support 10-12 vehicles per home. If home owners want to have that many vehicles they need to ensure off street parking or they can pay a surcharge to the city for additional wear and tear on our streets.
