1. Reopen the SeeClickFix ticket.
2. Call Oakland Public Works Agency, 510-615-5566, and ask them who was assigned to that ticket, and who closed it.. Also, find out the supervisor's name, and maybe the supervisor's supervisor's name. Talk to PWA about the issue, but also call the person who closed the ticket, and go up the chain as far as necessary until you get an answer. Sometimes, I have called the supervisor's supervisor, and then received a very nice call back from the original person.
This method is painful, and time-consuming, but it sometimes works.
If you reopen the closed report and let them know that the issue was NOT addressed (in a nice way!) and make sure the location is correct (maybe give more description and provide a picture) staff will work extra hard to make sure it gets resolved quickly. It is embarassing for them whenever an issue falls through the cracks like that and they appreciate when citizens help them by staying on top of the reported issues (in a nice way!).
Kevin & Courtney are right, if the report says Fixed, you need to call the DPW ask for supervisor assigned to the ticket # & you should get some better response. In my case, the homeless encampment was cleaned out from Filbert & 32nd St but then they were back a day later, redumping, couches & all
I'm seeing the same issue on Courtland Avenue. Tickets keep being closed but the same trash is sitting there. I think some workers are not doing their jobs by reporting they are picking up items and closing tickets.
Cleanjingletown is correct, make sure you send the report from the site & confirm the location matched. Some of the closed reports are due to location errors. I can't explain the other misses. Those sound really frustrating. SCF is pretty new to City process, even though it saves everybody time & hassle.
Kevin Dalley thanks for a good answer.
They have done it to me as well. It is quite upsetting. I think they just consider them fixed after a certain amount of time.
Check to make sure the GPS location is correct. It took a month for some baby seats to be picked up, I looked on the report and saw that even though the map coordinates were showing the street the trash was on , the address was for the front of the building on the next street over.
It's a cynical attempt to manipulate statistics, and make the city look better on paper. The "closure rate" calculated by SCF is not affected by the fact that nothing was actually done - it's simply a tabulation of reported closures. The city can look like it's effective in dealing with illegal dumping, etc. without taking the trouble to clean anything up. I don't think we can blame it on rogue employees, since it's a pattern that's been going on for years now. If someone was cheating, and putting in false reports without having been told to do it, they would have been fired long ago.
And they closed it AGAIN, so I reopened it and posted a photo.
This is extremely upsetting to me as well. Why do these workers still have jobs if they are not doing their job and, apparently lying about it to their supervisors.
See Click NOT fixed is close to a standard procedure for the City - I have tried, as has Stanley Roberts, to determine whether it is fact willful misconduct or simple negligence. The City has obfuscated our attempts to determine which root cause is involved.
If you keep complaining, eventually you will see a little message instead of your post:
" Your issue is being held for moderator approval. You will receive an email once it is posted"
My issues used to be posted immediately. Now I guess I'm considered a troublemaker, and they think they need to censor what I write here.
There is no answer. Despite our publicizing this 2X with my friend Stanley Roberts - the practice we dubbed "See Click NOT Fixed" is a systemic approach by the City. There are only two possibilities: 1) negligence, and 2) willful false statements. Despite considerable effort and media exposure the City has fire-walled/failed to response as to which of the two options this practice is.
Definition: "See Click NOT fixed" robo-signing matters closed that were not touched.
Findings: Uncertain - City has obfuscated this and firewall the truth.
THE CITY OF OAKLAND NEEDS TO CATCH DUMPERS AND MAKE THEM PICKUP/ CLEANUP TRASH AS PUNISHMENT LONG WITH A FINE. OAKLAND DUMPING HAS GONE RAMPAGE OVER THE LAST FEW YEARS BECAUSE NOTHING HAS BEEN DONE ABOUT. I'TS TIME TO DO SOMETHING, THIS CITY IS BECOMING ONE BIG JUNK YARD FOR CITIZENS AND SURROUNDING CITIES.
