Description
Please add bicycle parking to Mary Beth Doyle park. The only bike parking is at the least useful place for it - the northeast entrance of the park. This entrance is problematic because that bike parking isn't bike-able to the rest of the park, so anyone coming from any other direction has no way to park their bike.
The best location for a bike parking would be near the car parking off Birch Hollow Drive. This is a high activity area (visibility is shown to reduce bicycle thefts) and has good (paved) bicycle access to all entrances except the one that already has bike parking. As a bare minimum, this would be the best spot for bicycle stands.
The good additional location would be the middle of the triangular intersection where the trail connecting to Verle avenue meets the trail that crosses I-94.
Finally, it would be nice to see Ann Arbor installing nicer-looking bicycle stands in places like this. Perhaps commission a local company to design some circular bike racks like in Sculpture Plaza, but with a tree stamped in the middle to symbolize the city?
