The City of Virginia Beach Public Works Waste Management continues its mission to encourage the repurposing and recycling of items that would otherwise be considered waste. Effective immediately, cardboard boxes will continue to be collected in conjunction with additional bulky materials but will no longer be serviced as the single item in a bulky item request.
Residents wishing to recycle their cardboard boxes may take those to the Landfill and Resource Recovery Center at 1989 Jake Sears Rd; Hours of operation are Tuesday through Saturday, 7:00am until 4:30pm or to the West Neck Recycling Center, located behind the Municipal Center. The Recycling Center is scheduled to be open daily, available between the hours of 7:00am and 6:00pm, and based on container capacity and site safety.
Residents may also break down the cardboard boxes and recycle them through the Blue Automated Recycle Cart serviced by Tidewater Fibre Company.
Should you have any additional questions, please contact the Customer Service Call Center, Monday through Friday, 8:00am until 5:00pm at 385-4650 or you may contact the recycling group at 385-8595.
