It is draining the street runoff wastewater from the underground pipes to allow the contractor to have a dry pit in the HT parking lot to install new concrete drain pipe to replace the corrugated pipes that have rotted out.

Its part of the 28th street project. With all the rain, the lines are filling up with water , we need to dewater, or the situation will be exacerbated. Sorry for the inconvenience we have contacted the contractor to swap out to a silent pump, so it should be much quieter now.

What is the 28th street project ?

There are actually two large scale repairs happening at once that are tied to the same outfall at the BMP located at the Harris Teeter at 28th street. The first repair is a cave in located at Baltic near 28th and the other is at the Harris Teeter near Arctic and 28th. The Baltic repair involves a 36 inch and 42 inch repair and CIPP pipe slip line. The other repair near the Harris Teeter at Arctic and 28th consists of an 81 inch pipe repair cave in and lining for approximately 500 LF of pipe.

A second generator was added on Jan 26, 2021. It directly located in from of Playa Rana Condominums’ West side building on Arctic and 28th Street. They are directly located across from bedroom windows. See uploaded second pic.

Do the generators need to run at full throttle 24x7? Can they be shut off during sleeping hours? Or at least throttle them down so residents can get some sleep?

The second generator was added with sound attenuation to replace the first. We will see if the contractor can use a longer discharge hose to try and space the noise a little farther away. With all the rain we are currently having, without that temporary pump in operation, this will cause flooding in the street, and we definitely don't want the street to flood.

What actions are the city contractors taking to ensure minimal disturbance to residents who live across the street. Can the generators be repositioned away from the residential buildings?
