The City of Oakland Public Works Agency has received this issue. It is registered as service request # 494732. Please check back for status updates or contact us directly at (510) 615-5566.
This area has become extremely inundated with trash, graffiti, and shopping carts due to the proliferation of homeless people here. I attend Laney and have become familiar with the regular tents and individuals. However there are a lot of new structures and people lurking around, leaving a big mess and possibly some kind of dealing going on.
This area really needs to be cleaned up. Many of the tents are near the water and I imagine the people relieve themselves around there which is a biohazard due to the proximity of the waterway.
A propos, I'd like to know why that van which is completely covered in graffiti and filled with junk can remain permanently parked on 8th (?) street on the periphery of Laney College and across from the flea market. Its presence heightens one's sense of the increasing trashing of the neighborhood.
Thank you for your request. According to our system, we already have an open service request at this location. Your service request has been combined with service request # 494731 . If you would like to check the status of the request, please contact the Public Works Call Center at (510) 615-5566 or pwacallcenter@oaklandnet.com.
