Per city ordnance it is the responsibility of the property owner to maintain their sidewalk. Therefore, the property owner must excavate the problematic concrete before any issues can be addressed by the Division of Parks and Forestry. Parks and Forestry are responsible to address any root conflicts within 1-2 business days once the property owner has excavated their sidewalk and notified the Office of Parks and Forestry.

Tree trimming seems to be the major issue here since it is interfering with wires. Constituent stated sparks are starting to fly from the power lines. This is a clear safety hazard. I'm emailing the fire dept as well

Was this reported to PSE&G right away as I put in my note? It is vital that you call them since they will come out and cut back the tree if it is involved with wires, per the BPU. Forestry should not touch the tree if it is at risk of touching wires (especially if it is touching the top most wires, which are electrical). Wires from bottom up are cable, telephone, electrical.

Thanks to the City for trimming tree. I think because if hanging limbs, and pulling sidewalk up creating a trip spot, it should be removed with corner tree which has been dead.
