This RV has been joined by two more, and I've personally witnessed shenanigans such as drug dealings and public defecation by the folks who come in and out of these vehicles. Get OPD on these people and get them out of our neighborhood!

These are NOT abandoned. The one in this photo is occupied by drug dealing pigs. Cops need to do more than what they are doing and raid these RVs in the wee hours!

Yes, do you have a description of them? We reported two guys this morning in front of our home on the curb and the police never came. We have photos - will upload later when we get home.

These RV/Homeless Motor homes that dump feces in the streets have got to go. Highly unsanitary conditions creating a public health hazard. What can we do as neighbors..I'm down with some creative solutions.(actions) This is just not right!

I agree. All of these RV's need to be removed regardless of whether or not they dump garbage in the streets. They do not belong their and many of the ones on Mandela just stay in the same place for months at a time without moving which is illegal. We have to band together and get these guys off our streets.

The city needs to do something here. This has to stop

I live in my van. I respect you guys and the community. I use the bathroom at the gym or at the grocery store. I clean up other people's trash. I work but rent prices keep going up, I'm just trying to save up some money to better myself and get ahead.

I agree there are lots of drug addicts, drug dealers, and people who don't respect the community living in vans and RVs, but why do you want to go after all of us, @jam4280? Some of us are clean and respectful and even clean up after others. Living discretely in your van doesn't make you a harm to society.

So glad to hear that Anonymous. I think we all realize there are many reasons for living in a vehicle and that it can be done w/ respect for self and neighbors. Unfortunately, the piles of trash and waste left in the gutter next to many campers, esp along Mandela Pky are the result of the other kind of camper. Yes, I agree WOak, and I'm glad that Marcus made this report. Dumping untreated human fecal waste on the ground is terrible. This is a serious health hazard. If we can prevent this kind of bad behavior, its also good for me because then there will be less bigoted hatred directed at me in my everyday life. So lets bring these people to justice. I was addressing @jam4280 and the tone of the conversation in these comments, not the initial report.

This camper is one of dozens who do this every day in some part of West Oakland. I am glad to hear from Anon. that some campers are respectful of their neighbors but I am afraid you are the exception and for every respectful camper, there are too many that dump feces, needles, trash every day.

The challenge is multiple campers on a street-as this invites crime and disrespect toward residents. West Oakland is already treated poorly, with illegal dumping and abandoned vehicles, and to have RVs that aren't cited for blatant violations is just another example of the tiered treatment of Oakland neighborhoods. These issues of defecation do not exist in Rockridge or Lake Merritt.

This is awful. Can't even walk down the street or take your dog out - inundated with GARBAGE, HUMAN WASTE AND TRASH!!! OAKLAND IS A HUGE DUMP.

that is not true, it is ONLY EAST and WEST Oakland where this is allowed. You don't see trashed out, unsafe RVs in the "other Oakland"
