Description

The vacant lot on cottage st is not maintaining sidewalks, the pools of standing water that have been there for a year are flowing onto the sidewalk and creating a sheet of ice. The city should be ashamed of this property. The owner bought it to develop and it has been a blight to the community ever since. A mosquito haven all spring summer and fall and now a skating rink of unsuspecting travelers of the SL3

Is this safe?! Fine the pants off this property owner this issue will be going on all winter because of the cottage street ponds. Also I appreciate the city throwing some salt on the immediate area pictured but along the entire property is a problem. Could they have not seen the other areas as well or should I take pictures of each patch for them?

12hrs later ZERO resolution. It might be worse. THIS WILL CONTINUE ALL WINTER UNLESS THE CITY ACTS. Someone WILL get hurt and this will cost the city.

Besides the ice which is getting worse. This property has failed to shovel their sidewalk which is still a huge problem! Does anyone know if we can go to the state since Chelsea refuses to deal with this problem property?

Why can't our City Manager just have his friends at Eastern Salt drop a load on it for him. He already has given them all of the Chelsea waterfront, least they can do is kick back some salt for Tommy Salt Piles.

Thank you all for your input. ISD has spoken to the owner of the property owner regarding the water running into the sidewalk. The property is trying to stop the water run off by creating a bern. We will speak to them again today regarding clearing the other sidewalk.

If we are being honest trying isn’t good enough! This property is a joke! You have been receiving messages about the water being an issue sine July. Anyone with a brain could have predicted this. It’s 100% ice on a major pedestrian walk way

Holidays are over and thankfully we have a thaw. Now is the time to appropriately handle this property. If the property owner is unreachable the city should do what is necessary to ensure that during the next freeze we do not have a repeat performance. Pump out the lakes into the sewers and send the owner an invoice. Let’s make some strides here.

Owner has created a trench and the city is going to do a bit more work in the very near future (within this month) to avoid puddles and more run off. we will continue to monitor this issue.
