I couldn’t agree more, I’ve almost been hit multiple times. A large group of residents have been saying this for years but it’s always passed off that the county says it’s not necessary. Whoever is saying no certainly doesn’t have family crossing that street.

Good morning, thank you for your concern on this issue. Traffic and pedestrian safety is always a priority for the police department. Harding Ave (SR A1A) is a state owned and maintained roadway, therefore, this morning, I personally contacted our representative for FDOT who will set up a traffic study for this location to determine the need for a traffic signal. Currently, there are traffic signals in place at 91st and 88th street with crosswalks. Additionally, there is a crosswalk located at 89 Street and Harding Ave. In the coming weeks, FDOT will also be installing pavement markings at several locations on Harding Avenue identifying the 30 MPH Speed limit. The 30 MPH will be painted across all 3 lanes of travel on Harding Avenue. Thank you.

Thank you, LT Healy. We will await the FDOT study results. Just want to remark that traffic signals at 91st and Harding are not that critical for pedestrians, as at 90th and Harding, because 91st street doesn't have access to the beach. And also, Harding Ave is straight and well seen there, unlike at 90th street.
