Officer issued summons for bike lane

This evening I passed in front on Newport Mall on Washington. There were 20 cars parked along the sidewalk in the bike lane and a popcorn truck. If the City doesn't put up the dividers, they might as well forget about having a bike lane. It forces the bikers either into traffic or on the sidewalk. Traffic division needs to address this situation ASAP before an accident happens.

This is happening every day. Come on Jersey City. What’s was the point of having a bike lane if all it’s used for is parking.

Officer assigned to the Original Issue reported summons issued. You can report the issue daily if vehicles are parked illegal. If the vehicles are parked illegally after the hours of 7am to 3pm Monday thru Friday or on the weekends you can call JCPE @201-547-5538 prompt #1 you can also download the (Wots App) for residents from the google play store and report the issue. The JCPE is Open 24 hours a day 7 days a week.

Then what’s the point of this app? Is says we can report this issue here, but Jersey City refuses to do anything about it. How about JCPD start actually enforcing the laws? They drive by this area all the time and don’t enforce the laws. So, instead of passing the buck, how about actually doing something about it before an accident happens and someone gets hurt.

This is not only a parking issue but a failure to complete a project. When will the City install the white barriers that protect the bike lane? Does it plan to do so or was the City going to leave the bike lane as is? It would have made more sense to make the right lane a double wide for bikers. bikers leaving the Path station don't cross the street to that bike lane. They either use the right-and lane or the sidewalk.

I second the comments made above. In addition, I don't want to download an app to report this issue where I have to give up access to all my contacts details, and to my Google account(s) configuration details (see attached image). There is an option to call a phone number instead, but I shouldn't need to be reporting this issue. If there was good enforcement and few and far between cases where cars were blocking the bike lane, I can understand having to report the occasional issue. But with cars blocking the bike lane all along the street (and the next block and the next block) almost all day long and every single day, it is clear poor enforcement and poor interest in enforcing it until someone complains a lot and a lot.

Agreed with the other comments. The indifference shown by the city in regards to this issue is astounding. The only conclusion I can draw is Newport brings a lot of money to the city (and to the campaigns of its elected officials) that the city won’t enforce and parking issues. Look at the area around Newport Town Square. It’s clearly marked “no parking” and yet they are cars parked there all the time. I used the WOTS app and reported it. The police did come, but they did nothing. Well, not nothing. They did take a picture with some tourists. So, trying to report anything in Newport will get you nowhere.
