  Thanks Carrie for re-posting this abandoned wreck. Not single parking ticket in months even when still had plates. How much in parking meter revenue was lost in the last 80 plus days.

  Thanks, David. I spoke with staff at Grand Lake Kitchen who expressed a concern that this abandoned wreck is both unsightly and is taking up a valuable parking space that one of their customers could use.

  Today is 09/19/2019, and there is finally an orange notice placed on this vehicle. Plus a parking ticket. I hope it is towed soon. Thank you.

  I have figured that this car has cost the city more than 1600 dollars in lost meter revenue. I talked to parking enforcement several times they kept saying they could write a ticket because the vin was covered. so I was surprised to see the ticket as well.

  David, The volunteer corp. (you, me, others) all report these things as we find them. The very least the City can do is to take action in a timely fashion. However, average response time is anywhere from 1-2 weeks for an "emergency response" to several months for routine activities such as removing an abandoned vehicle. I came so close to hiring a tow truck to take it to Public Works office and saying "Here - I've done your job for you. Now you deal with it."

  Carrie this what I have found. The city has allowed the abandoned vehicle problem to become almost unmanageable. There getting more than 1550 reports of abandoned vehicles every month in Oakland on SCF. OPD has a staff of 5 officers to deal with it. Parking enforcement which is part of Oakland DOT does not communicate with OPD parking enforcement no matter how long the car has been sitting or how many citations they write. Very dysfunction. It should not take 4 months to get a 72 hour tow tag.
