The property owner has received a written report on the tall grass and weeds at this property requesting corrective actions. The owner has until the third week of August to correct the overgrown grasses and weeds at the property. We are monitoring the situation.
Thank you very much for the update. I do want to make sure the initial request is clear to the homeowner. Besides general maintenance of mowing grass and weeds, which is a given, the complaint addresses the necessity to cut many of the trees that have taken over the lot. It is a real eyesore and is growing over the next property owner's lot. Has been neglected for so long that major cutting and clean up is critical so that future maintenance can be controlled. Thank you.
Surely the city is aware of these overgrown lots. Why is it that the location have to be pointed out to them. It should be a known fact if you have property in the city you will take care of it or be fined. The city needs to enforce codes if they are going to have them.
We are attempting to address the issues at this property within the confines of the resources available and the provisions of the applicable ordinances. The city has a finite amount of resources dedicated to delivering the services expected by its customers. We make every effort to respond effectively and address as many issues as possible. There have always been more problems that need solutions than there are resources to address them. We will keep you posted on progress at this property. We expect full compliance with the applicable ordinance by the property owner. Thanks for your input.
The owner called and indicated they would be working to correct the overgrown grass and weed problem at this property. The large trees on the lot will not be cleared. The grasses and weeds will be removed soon.
Thanks for the assistance. The city already cuts the grass and weeds occasionally. I am very disappointed that the owner is unwilling to cut any of the trees. Some of them are huge and growing over the neighbor's yard and house. We have trimmed some that were on the roof, but may have to cut some of them down. If this is the case, the cut trees will be left in the field as this is not anyone's responsibility other than the owner. Is there any alternative that the city can suggest? If we cut some of them down, would the owner clear them? Thank you.
College Ave. between 5th and 4th needs so much repair!! Worst street in Hartsville!! We travel that street to Wesley and it is terrible!! Any promise of resurfacing????
I want to thank the City, the owner, and especially the men who cleared much of the lot on Gandy Drive. It looks so much better! This street gets lots of school traffic, and I'm sure many people have noticed the huge improvement. Also, the lot at the corner of College Ave and 8th Street looks great. It makes a tremendous difference to clear out these unsightly lots within the city limits. In addition to our downtown area, these unoccupied lots need to be maintained to keep Hartsville looking attractive. Thanks again!
