  I am adding my voice to the residents of King Street in support of installing signs to slow cars down at the intersections of Pine & King and South Champlain and King.

  "Slow Down - Kids and Pets At Play" signs help to send a message that you've entered a residential neighborhood and ought to drive slow enough to prevent accidents. It won't work for every motorist, but these signs will remind folks to be careful when passing through the neighborhood.

  DPW Staff do not recommend the use of “Children at Play” signage due to data that has been collected. Such signs may cause drivers to slow down in the short term, but over time, motorists will tend to ignore the sign and, as a result, the sign will lose its effectiveness. Additionally, special needs signage can send a false sense of security to parents and children. Giving them the sense motorists are going to watch out for them when there's a likelihood they won't.
