I'm placing this complaint here since the "comments & complaints" for your department suggested using another category for a response. Both Alameda County and City policies/ordinances state to contact the Public Works & Planning Dept. for this type of complaint. There is a faulty dryer causing a major noise disturbance and health issue to surrounding neighbors at this address. It has been ongoing since early Summer 2018 and still not remedied. The property owners have been contacted numerous times to repair, replace or remove the dryer, but there has been no response or resolve to the problem. The dryer is located in the back of a multi-unit property. It is constantly running - daily - from early morning through late at night. No doubt the high-pitched tone violates both the Alameda County Noise Policy (12.2.1) and Alameda City Noise Regulations (defined in Article II). It can be heard nearly one block from the source. It is a sleep disturbance and most concerning, a health hazard - especially for those with allergies and breathing issues. The area where the dryer is located is not properly ventilated. The dryer emanates a strong odor when in use - that can also be detected nearly one block from the source. I have been forced to use emergency inhalers while *inside my home* because of it. This has been an ongoing health and quality of life issue since June 2018 and needs to remedied immediately. I have documentation regarding this issue dated back to July 2018 if needed. Please take care of this ASAP. Thank you.
