Description
Natural spring drains onto intersection of Linden Terrace and Cherry Lane. Icy conditions much of the way down Cherry, halfway across street. Currently a 6.5” crevasse of ice in street that must be traversed by vehicles to enter driveway cuts at 4 Cherry and 96 Linden. Needs to be a storm drain at the intersection of Cherry and Linden (long-term fix).

Thanks very much for taking care of this so promptly.
The ice sheet reappeared the evening after you removed the big chunks. It was still extremely helpful to have the big ice chunks gone (re-gained full access to driveway).
Can we look at putting a storm drain between 96 Linden and 4 Cherry Lane to catch this water run-off once spring/summer roll around? The ice sheet persists all the way down Cherry Lane.
Thanks!

Hi Dan -
Thanks for bringing this to our attention. The Stormwater Program does not typically handle groundwater drainage issues, specifically when it could require the addition of groundwater to the combined sewer system. I've assigned this issue to our Infrastructure Asset Manager.
Can you tell me if this water has been flowing before, or did it just seem to crop up this winter? We have had exceptional amounts of precipitation, followed by melt events and then more freezing - which has resulted in the groundwater table shift a bit. There are similar issues elsewhere in the city. If you have any context for how this looks at other times of the year, that would be helpful!

Hi Jenna,
Thanks very much for your response.
This water flows all the time. There is runoff that comes from uphill that bubbles up underneath the curb between 4 Cherry Lane and 96 Linden Terrace. The foot of my driveway is wet all year, and the puddle flows all the way down Cherry Lane, towards the lake.
The ice sheet that was removed last week was back that night, and it extends down Cherry Lane as well.
Thanks for any suggestions.
-Dan
